SAITAMA PREFECTURE

Out from their overlooking balcony, a 13 year old boy let out a huge grin upon seeing a figure of a girl appearing from the road. His brown eyes glistened as soon as he called for her.

"Senna nee-chan!" he waved his hand excitedly. A ray of sunshine hit his forehead making him squint.

"Yuu-chan!" she called back upon approaching the front of their 2-storey house. She waved both her hands and grinned back. Her shoulder-length black hair rested at her back but fringes were a bit disheveled.

Yuu chuckled upon hearing her quick steps as she headed upstairs. After a while, he found her at his door, bringing a bag full of sweets. She placed her bag at the bed and immediately knelt next to Yuu's wheelchair. His sister, a 2nd year high school student was looking at him with fondness and warmth.

"Were you bored the whole time?" she asked gently as she caressed his cheeks.

Yuu shook his head and smiled. He then showed her the book he was holding the whole day.

"I actually had fun reading this" pointing at the book. The book's cover was quite old and rusty. It doesn't really appeal that much physically, that's what Yuu thought.

Senna stared at it for a while. She was the one who gave it to him but she never really had the chance to read what the content of the book was. It was only referred to by the attendant from the bookstore she frequents. There were other books she bought for Yuu but her brother never really got tired reading it. She took the book and opened it randomly and lay herself on the floor.

"I haven't really read it but I guess this piques your interest huh, Yuu-chan." She said.

Yuu chuckled. He moved his wheelchair near his study table and cupped his face facing the window.

"I don't know. Even though it's missing some chapters, I've been reading it for the 8th time but I never seemed to get tired of it. Despite my frustration of it not having an ending, I love this book since it has all the things I like." He gently replied. Senna glanced at him for a moment before closing the book.

"Like magic and dragons?"

Yuu turned to look at his sister. He smiled playfully.

"There are beautiful princesses too" he grinned.

Senna looked surprised.

She then sighed. Well actually, it's not something she should be surprise about. Yuu is at the age where he starts appreciating the opposite sex and dreaming about meeting them. Unfortunately for him, his condition wouldn't allow him.

Yuu was only 3 years old when he got sick. Severe and recurring fevers caused his body to deteriorate to the point that he lost his ability to walk. Their parents were forced to home school him since the doctors discouraged him to be exposed to potential infections outside.

He was that vulnerable.Before.

And as a sister, it was Senna's duty to become his limbs. Their parents were always at work and by the time they became teenagers, their get together as a family became a rare event. Most of the time, it was just, them. After class, she immediately comes home and does all household chores aside from taking care of Yuu.

She decided not to enter any clubs to save herself from the hassle.

Senna stood and reached for Yuu's silky black hair. She ruffled it and headed to the door without looking back.

Yuu was left behind staring at his sister's back. Thank you, nee-chan, he said in his mind.
