author's pov:
colby woke up with a groan as he rolled onto his side, onto a bruise from the previous night. he remembered the events as clear as they happened..
colby walked into the house from school, his heart beating fast as he knew what was going to happen when he entered. he opened the door and instantly glass shattered on the floor in the living room.
"faggot, get in here," his mom snarled. his hands were shaking as he walked into the room he heard the voice from.
"i've got a client later, if you don't stay in your bedroom i will fucking kill you," she spat, looking at him angrily.
"o-ok," he whispered, nodding as he headed upstairs, over the shattered glass.
"get back here!" she screeched. he immediately turned back around and saw her stood in the doorway. she slammed her fist into the side of his stomach, making him buckle onto his knees, onto the shattered glass.
"get gone," she snarled. he stood up with a wince, pulling out a shard of glass that had ripped through his jeans and into his skin. he quickly ran up the stairs, letting silent tears fall down his face.
he picked up his phone and checked the time, reading 6:35am. he sighed and sat up, grunting as the bruise on his side was sore. he stood up and walked to his wardrobe, picking out some clothes for the day to come. he picked a black, tight fitting shirt, black tight fitting jeans and a loose black hoodie, which read 'nirvana' down the arms and at the top left side. he picked up some boxers and socks and quickly got dressed, yawning. he headed to the bathroom, yawning as he brushed his teeth sleepily. all he'd heard all night was the bed banging against the wall next door and his mom and her 'client' moaning all night. it was nothing new. he walked back to his bed, sitting down with a sigh. he left for school pretty much as soon as he could, to avoid the abuse he'd get if he didn't. he jogged downstairs and downed a glass of water, slipping on some black af1's and messing with his hair in the broken mirror. despite having terrible conditions, colby made sure he looked half-decent before he left the house. he sighed and set off to school, closing the door quietly behind him.
"my cousin sam is gonna hang with us today if that's cool with you. he's new," colby's friend corey explained to him, pulling a book out of his bag.
"yeah, that's fine by me," he shrugged.
"oh, there he is now," corey mumbled, pointing to the door. in walked a gorgeous blonde boy - gorgeous?! what was happening to him? he's not gay, he thought. he refused to believe he's gay. it's normal to think someone of the same gender is attractive right? no. of course it's not. anyway. in walked the blonde, with striking blue eyes, a pastel pink sweater and blue ripped jeans. he was several inches taller than colby, too.
"hey!" he smiled, looking at corey.
"i'm sam," he grinned at me, looking colby up and down before lifting his fist. the brunette flinched and quickly realised he was going in for a fist bump, returning the gesture.
"i'm c-colby," he smiled with a gulp, the only thought going through his mind being how attractive he thought the blonde was. it wasn't normal, and if he was gay, he certainly wouldn't be able to tell anyone. sam had his sweater tucked into his jeans, the bottom of them rolled up. he was wearing white vans, and it was a complete opposite to colby. he was wearing all black, and the blonde was wearing all colour. but he still had that feeling at the back of his mind, and he had no idea how to get rid of it.
