The Magic Keys
Chapter 1 The discovery
Once there was a kingdom named Lockhart and it is a Kingdom where there is always sun never rain or snow and everyone was happy Lockhart was ruled by a king named Charles and a queen named Sandy. They had two beautiful children, Emily and James. Emily was 9 years of age and James was 13, his birthday was coming up and his parents decided to throw him a surprise party. There were balloons and streamers. His cousins from the next kingdom over even brought him a cake the cake was vanilla with chocolate icing nothing special. It had a Happy birthday james in white icing Everything was perfect however, on the day before his birthday something bad happened, something really, really bad. Ogres and dragons started to attack the castle and the king had a pretty good idea of who it was, Katy. For many years, Katy has been trying to get herself into the royal castle and become the queen, but she has failed many times. This time she reached the last remaining wall to the castle the king demanded that everyone inside had to go to the safe room. The safe room was located at the far east of the castle and in the dungeons. James, being the curious boy he was, went to the window in the guest room to watch the fight that was about to happen. On his way to the guest room he heard something. THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, and it was getting closer. James became very scared and started to run in the opposite direction of the thumping, but as he ran further down the hall he heard it again, coming in the direction he was running. He thought that this was going to be the way he died, that this was going to be the end. At the last possible moment someone whispered, "hey you, over here quick". The person who said that was dressed in black and had a hood covering their face and sounded like a girl around James's age. Quickly he ran into the room and he thanked the girl for saving his life. The room looked like an ordinary room, but it didn't seem too ordinary for James. He then asked if she could take off the hood but she declined. They stayed in the room for what seemed like hours and eventually James fell asleep. While James was asleep the girl disappeared back into the castle.
The next morning when James woke up, he realized that the girl was no longer there. He felt a little sad that she didn't stick around, but then realized it was his birthday. Once he made sure the coast was clear and the ogres and dragons were gone he made his way down to the safe room. But to his surprise, there was barely anyone there except his mom and sister accompanied by a few guards. Emily was sitting in a chair close to a mirror. By looks of her face, it looked like she had been crying but it was hard to tell. He felt that it was best to give her some space if she was. Then, he spotted his mom talking to some guards. They looked like they were talking about something serious so he decided to eavesdrop a little.
" So, they haven't found any sign of him?",
" No, ma'am, we are really sorry",
" No, no, it's okay it's really not your fault",
As the conversation went on James wondered who they were talking about could it have been him they were looking for or somebody else. He must have been pacing or something because the queen seemed to notice him.
" Oh, thank goodness you're okay",
" Why wouldn't I be ok?",
" James don't ever do that to any of us ever again we thought we lost you two",
" Two?",
" You and your father",
"I haven't seen dad since he told us to go to the safe room",
" so you're saying he didn't find you?",
"No he didn't ",
" oh no this is bad, guards!", And off she went leaving James with so many questions his head felt like it was going to explode. "Emily" screamed James in happiness. Hey Em can you tell me what is going on and why you and mom are still down here, oh and where is dad? Emily broke out into tears and James had a feeling he knew why. "Last night w-when you didn't show up at the safe room d-dad went looking for you and didn't come back." James took a couple steps backwards and felt like he was going to faint. Did his dad really get captured or even worse eaten by those nasty no good ogres, all because of him?
