Above The Sky

In the beginning, I never believed that I would have to either break my heart into a million pieces of my own volition, or complete my mission and go home.

"We all have our duties to attend to, Nefta. You know what you need to." My creators words rung in my ears, as a light and almost radiant mist covered me, beginning to bring me from the heavens and down into the world. My job was to destroy the new deadly being that had been recently brought onto Earth, with such immense power even the bearer died during birth. This would soon be a rampaging nephilim, with no guidance or any sort of proper way to use it's powers. It needed to be eliminated before it engulfed the world in flames.

The mist released me into a large empty building, with windows letting in the soft dusk sunlight from the outside world. Once I step out, it will begin. There had only been a handful of times that angels roamed the earth, and my adventure made it to be number seven.

Stepping out into the cool morning and a rush of a cold breeze hit my face, gently blowing my auburn colored hair behind me as I walked through the abandoned factory yard with purpose. Only a few wanderers remained, captivated by my appearance. I had changed before I landed in this world, a plain pair of jeans ripped at the knees, and a blue off the shoulder blouse was the apparel Gabriel had chosen for me. This is what these humans call fashion?

Reaching the big gate blocking off any unwarranted visitors into the factory, I slowly reached up and put my hand on the metal chain that was keeping the doors closed. As I closed my hands around the chain, they began to glow a bright white and melted into a hot liquid. I pushed the gate open, leading into the streets of what the humans had deemed New York. The noise of all the chatter, and cars passing me by on the street was unbearable. This.. Is going to be a long order.

Almost as if on cue, an obvious homeless person approached me and asked if I had any currency. I sighed softly, looking into the eyes of this hungry individual and pulled out a couple dollar bills, only a minute amount of what was given to me to complete my mission, and gave it to the man in front of me.

"I really am going to hate this."
