The sound of my feet against the pavement echoed throughout the dark and dreary ally; the screams and commands of the officers hot on my trail did not slow me down or stop me, it instead encouraged me to go faster. My sniper had been left on the rooftop, his body left in the road, a botched hit: I had been set up.

The officers continue to shout at me, there meaningless threats not even fazing me, the wailing of the ambulance and frantic cries could still be heard from the crime scene.

I took a sharp right, quickly picking up the pace as I ducked behind a dumpster. Both cops split up and went opposite ways, one to the left, one to the right. The officer approached the dumpster, Glock 17 in one hand, flashlight in the other. I take in a sharp breath, not knowing that what I was about to do would fuck up my life even more.

The officer bellowed the command for me to show myself, he pointed the handgun, index finger on the trigger and ready to fire at a single twitch. I took in a breath, rubbing the heart-shaped necklace wrapped loosely around my neck. I drew my silenced SNS pistol, index finger on the trigger. I jolted up and pointed the small handgun at the officer, and within the blink of an eye, his now cold and lifeless body hit the pavement.

I heard the wailing of more sirens approach the crime scene, as well as the ally - there wasn't time to think about the choice I had just made. I sheathed the small handgun in the shoulder holster covered by jacket and took off the opposite way.
