OS Number 3 - Inspired by Thoda Thoda

Mullai: Kandippa. Athukkuthaan inga vanthom.

She takes the photoframe and places it aside.

Nanthavana karaiyil (In the corner of the garden)

Nattu vaitha sediyil (in the plant we planted)

Mottu vitta mudal poovai (The first bud bloomed)

Yaar paritthaar (who plucked it?)

Mullai searches the box and picks up another item that was hidden under all her childhood toys and items. She hides it in her hand and turns to face Kathir.

Mullai: Enga, itha naan ippo kaamicha en mela kobapada maatinhale?

Kathir: Un mela enakku eppadi di kovam varum? Kaiyila enna marachu vechu irukkae? Atha motha kaami.

Mullai hesitates but finally extends her hand in front of Kathir and opens her fist. Kathir looks at the item in Mullai's hand. He then looks at Mullai.

Kathir: Ithu...

Mullai takes a deep breath.

Mullai: Ithu neenga tholaicha locket thaan.

Kathir: Ithu epadi unkitta?

Mullai: Ithai tholaicha annikku enna nadanthichunu nyabagam irukka?

Kathir: Suthama nyabagam illa.

Mullai: Neenga kadaiyila velai seiya arambichi konja naal thaan irukkum. Naan thenamum college mudichu, namma kadaikitta irukkura aalamaram pinnadi olinchu ungalai paarpaen. Annikum appadi thaan. Mullai nods as tears glisten in her eyes again.

Mullai: Apo kadaiyila irunthu veliya varum bothu itha naan paarthaen. Thirumbi itha kodukka vanthaen. Aana neenga ennai pesa vidama thoratti viteenga. Appo enikkavathu thiruppi kodukkanumnu eduthu vachathu ippo varikkum enkitta thaan irukku. Eppolaam enakku unga ninappu varutho ithai thaan naan eduthu paarthupaen. Itha Vel locketai paartha en Kathirvelan thaan nyabagathukku varuvaan. Aprom poga poga, nammakula iruntha virisal perusaga enga Amma kannula patta prachanai aagumnu inga vachitaen.

Kadhalar theendatha pookalil thaen illai (There's no honey in the flowers untouched by lovers)

Idaiveli thaandathae en vaasam naan illai (Don't cross the gap, I'm not in control myself)

Thoda thoda malarnthathenna (You bloomed with the touches)

Poovae chudha chudha nanainthathenna (Oh dear flower, Aren't you drenched in the warmth?)

Paarvaigal pudhidhu (The looks are new)

Sparisangal pudhidhu (The caresses are new)

Narambukal pinna pinna nadukamenna (I shudder as the veins tangle within)

As Mullai speaks about the past, the tear drops roll down her cheek. Kathir moves closer to Mullai and wipes her tears.

Kathir: Naan unna evalavo kayapaduthi irukkaen illa.

Mullai holds Kathir's hand.

Mullai: Athellam onnum illanga. Palasa vidunga. Mothala kai neetunga. Intha locketai eppadiyo ivalavu varusham kaichu unga kitta koduthuta pothum enakku.

Kathir extends his hand. Mullai places the locket in his hand. She has a wide smile on her face.

Kathir: Intha Kathirvelanae unnakku sontham. Appa itha locket mattum enakku sonthama?

Kathir shakes his head signalling no and slowly turns Mullai such that her back faces him. He then proceeds to remove the clasp of her chain and attaches the locket to that chain. He then clasps back the chain and turns Mullai to face him.

Kathir: Ippo paarka nalla irukku.

Kathir then proceeds to bring his finger close to Mullai's neck to trace the chain.

Pani thanil kulitha paal malar kaana (To see the young flower bathed in the dew drops)

Irubathu vasanthangal vizhi valarthaen (I've waited for twenty springs)

Pasitthavan amutham parugida thaane (For the hungry, to quench the thirst)

Pathinezhu vasanthangal ithzal valarthaen (I've grown sweeter lips for seventeen springs)

Mullai steps back. With a shy look on her face, she shakes her head signalling no. Kathir proceeds to move closer and as always Mullai moves back with every step Kathir takes forwards. Mullai hits the wall and comes to a stop. Kathir smiles and places both his hands on the wall forming a barrier around Mullai.

Kathir: Ippo yenga pogapora?

Mullai: Enga, pleasunga.

Unexpectedly, some dust falls into Mullai's eyes. She starts fidgeting.

Kathir: Enna achu Mulla?

Mullai: Kannula thoosu.

Mullai attempts to rub her eye but Kathir stops her by holding her hand.

Kathir: Iru naan paarkuraen

Kathir uses his hand to open her eye and  then proceeds to blow the dust out.

Illai moodum malaraga (Like the leaf that hides the flower)

Ithayathai maraikaathae (Don't you too hide away your heart)

Malar kollum kaatraga (Like the breeze that takes the flower)

Idhayathai ulukkathae (Don't you too shake away my heart)

Kathir: Ippo seri acha?

Mullai nods shyly.

Kathir leans closer and just then,

"Mulla, enga irukkae? Inga konjam vaayaen ma"

Mullai whispers: Enga, Amma koopuduraha

Kathir: Koopidatum.

Kathir leans in to kiss her but before he could do so, Mullai leans in onto his chest and hides her face in his shirt. Both of them smile.
