Stepping out of the jeep, traded shoes for heels. Walking into the bar in a black dress, lips painted red and hair down. Purposely showing up late in the game, she went straight to the bar and ordered shots for the table.

Sheila had wanted to bring in her birthday with a bang, karaoke and drinks. "You came," Sheila whooped as she joined the table.

"Always." Setting down her pool cue case on the table with a small velvet bag. "Drinks will be over in a minute. How much did I miss?" Letting Kathie fill her in. "Grant and Dave are smoking out back," picked at the food on the table. "I made sure she ate first. I have food stashed in my trunk for later."

"You're the best hun," Lisa stood back as the waitress set the drinks down. The bar was one of the smaller establishments in the area. Two pool tables, two dart games over to the side. Karaoke on the other side of the u-shaped bar. "We can wait for the guys," she placed her quarters in the rail cushion. The top ones marked in blue.

Grant and Dave returned, the smell of after-smoke following. With a happy birthday to Sheila, the shots were gone in moments. Not intending to hover over the porcelain that evening, Lisa chose to keep it calm. Balls racked up, chalked her cue and shot. Keeping her pace with the game of billiards sipping on her drink.

As the hour passed nine, a roar of motorcycles filled the air. Lisa looked up at Dave for a moment, giving him a wink, then shot. Eight ball in, stood and did a happy dance as he groaned. Placing her stick against the wall next to his she picked up her drink with a wide smile.

"Can't you just pretend you can't play," he said against her cheek, her back to his front. "Just once I'd like to win."

Looking over her shoulder to him, "why would I want to do that? You'd know."

"Save my ego from the constant ass whipping Gavin," he laughed, moved to stand next to her. Looking at the filling bar, lifting his drink pointing at Sheila and Kathie singing their hearts out. "They're enjoying themselves."

"She is. We're long overdue for this. Meetings and breakroom coffee really doesn't cut it." He nodded in agreement. "How is she doing?"

"Good days and somber days. Can't say I miss the prick, but is what it is." Sheila's boyfriend of three years had announced that he wanted to move on. "She'll be alright. Just a bit of time."

Nodding, she took a sip of the watered down drink. Watching a group of men enter the bar. "You and Kath?"

"Still going strong." Noticing her gaze, "what has your eye?" He turned slightly watching the men split. Half went to the second pool table, while the other went to the bar. "We're not on call tonight, let it go."

Offering to order the next round, gripped his forearm briefly in passing. Catching Grant as he left the restroom, got his drink order and went to the bar. Leaning against the counter, she watched her friends complete their song and head back to the table laughing.

Watched the club members in her peripheral. They picked up their tubs of beer and went to the second area of the pool tables.

Placing in her order, she turned and watched them as the bartender filled a tray. "Want me to bring them over?" She shook her head no, watching the men open their drinks.

Ten men, all in their cuts like nothing was amiss. They were out of place and had no idea why an apparent MC would be strolling through.

Turning around, she picked up her tray and took the drinks to her small group. Set down a pitcher of water before unloading. Passed the drinks. Picking up her cue, walked around the table with her glass. Setting it down, she bent over and broke the balls.
