It was a quiet day in Moominvalley. The birds weren't too loud and the rivers didn't rush as fast as they normally did. It was a good day. Moomin and Snufkin were lying down on top of a hill. Moomin had his eyes closed as snufkin played a soft song on his guitar. Every once in awhile Moomin would offer a bit of small talk but then his voice would fade out and his eyes would fall again and snufkin would hum in amusement.
"Snufkin?" Moomin said sitting up.
"yes, Moomintroll?" Moomin turned his body to face Snufkin but said nothing. Snufkin quirked his head and stopped the song he was playing. He set the guitar next to and slid a bit closer to Moomin.
"You know, today just might mark mid-summer! How quiet the birds are they must be celebrating" Snufkin said with a small smile. Moomin met his eyes they widened just a bit. "half of summer gone already huh?" Moomin replied. suddenly Moomin stood to his feet
"Follow me Snufkin there's a patch of flowers that's just wonderfull follow me" he called and began to make his way across his the grass. Snufkin grabbed his bag and followed in suit. They walked for a bit and Moomin laced their finger together, slightly tugging his friend's hand. Snufkin stared at their paws as he was pulled along. Something just felt right about the sight. Eventually, Moomin stopped and pointed to a field of yellow purple and blue flowers.
"you see snufkin isn't beautiful I thought you like it" Moomin smile as he looked at snufkin
"You were right Moomin it is a wonderful sight" he squeezed Moomins paw but blushed a bit after doing so. Moomin's cheeks turned a light shade of pink afterward. "Snufkin I think there's something I want to tell you." Moomin put his arms behind his back.
"You think? Well, maybe you should tell me because I think I want to listen" snufkin said with a smile. He adjusted his hat and chuckled a bit. Moomin swayed a bit before he spoke.
"Well I, so I think I should tell you" Moomin stopped and stomped his foot (cause in the 70s he's so dramatic like what?) "Snufkin! why is it so hard to tell you I think I love you." he said frustratedly. Moomin looked up at snufkin whose eyes were wide and his face was turning a dark shade.
He pulled his over his eyes and stuttered. "well Moomin that certainly seems like it would be hard to say." Moomin's eyes dropped. "But," Snufkin continued. "I can't say it's hard to tell you I might love you too Moomin." He peeked from under his hat. Moomin suddenly pushed his way under the hate and connected their lips for a split second. Moomin squeaked and put his arms around snufkin.
They stood hugging for a minute or two before they lied down in the flowers, giggling and sharing small kisses. Eventually, the innocent pecks became a little longer and filled with more passion. "S-snufkin" Moomin said softly and placed his hand on snufkin's thigh.
