Atlas up top ☝

Chapter 1

AN: So… They're relationship is suuuuper fast. But like… it's a mate thing? Plus Atlas is very open to new things and he accepts things well.

Atlas walked down the street, taking the usual shortcut from the cafe he worked at with his best friend and her family, bundled up in a heavy coat, scarf, hat and gloves. His breath fogged in front of him. He had his hands shoved in his pockets as he shivered from a freezing gush of wind. Snow blurred his vision and he wished he had a car.

Most businesses were closed because of this snow storm but one had its lights on. He slowly made his way to it readkng the sign. "Ole Molly's Antique books and things".

"I don't remember seeing this. New business maybe?" He said to himself, noting the 'open' sign. He slipped inside and shook the snow off his head and shoulders.

There wasn't any other customers, but then again, why would there be? No one wants to go out in this kind of snow storm. The cafe he worked at wasn't really open, he had just went to help weatherproof the place. This storm had come without warning so they had to rush.

By the time he had left, the snow was up to his ankles. Now, it was slightly past his ankles, almost to the middle of his shins.

He looked around the shop, cheeks and nose burning from entering a warm place after being in the cold for a period of time. He went further inside, seeing no one at the register. He shrugged and looked around.

He spotted a couple of books he knew Kayla had been wanting and grabbed them along with three old cookbooks for him. He went to the register and set the books on the counter. "Uh, hello?" He called.

A short woman with frizzy red hair and green eyes wearing a green dress and brown shoes emerged from what Atlas assumed to be the back. "Hello. I wasn't expecting any customers in this kind of weather." She said. "How can I help you?"

"Oh, I was just walking home from the cafe I work at and saw that you were open and it's cold so… I just wanted to warm up. But I found a couple books my friend has been wanting to read and a few cookbooks for me." He said woth a smile.

"Alright." The woman said and checked him out.

Atlas shivered when it felt like he was being watched. He glanced around but didn't see anyone. He shrugged it off until arms twisted around his waist, pulling him into a hard chest. Long black hair tickled his cheek as the stranger leaned down.

"I've finally found you." A voice whispered in his ear. Atlas looked at the woman who wasn't paying attention. "Um-" "Hush." The male whispered, dragging his nose to the part of his neck that's exposed under the scarf.

"lígo sýntrofos (little mate)…" the male said softly. The woman finally looked at Atlas after putting the books in a bag. "Deyvan! Let him go!" She ordered, sounding angry.

The male, now named Deyvan, tightened his hold on Atlas. "No." He said. "He is mine." Atlas didn't move, he was frozen, drowning in the sparks that ran up his arms and spine, feeling like he knew this person. This male… was someone he was familiar with and he didn't want to leave his arms, even though he really didn't know him.

"Yours? He is not yours. He is a customer." The woman said.

"He is my mate, my sýntrofos (mate). I found him and you will not take him from me." Deyvan hissed. "I'm finally free from your control, Molly."

"No, you are not. You do not have a Contract with him. No kiss has been shared so your bond has not been started." Molly said. "I hold your Contract."
