Athena had a very troubled childhood with her dad leaving and then trying to figure out her sexuality. She started to question who she was when she was ten when she finally noticed that she wasn't only attracted to boys but also girls. After questioning to herself for many years she finally told three people. Those people were her closest friends Chelsea, Anelle, and Josephine. They were shocked when she told them because she was someone who didn't really talk about herself much. After she told her friends, she started to have a crush on one of her friends but she didnt say anything because it would never work out. So after that she tried to act normal around her family so she dated a really weird and nerdy boy that she never liked. In eight grade she was given the opportunity to go to an early college. Even tho she didn't think she was smart she still applied for the school. Once she applied she started getting negative comments saying that she would never make it in early college because she wasn't smart and that she shouldn't have ever applied for something that was never going to happen. She got put onto the waiting list for the early college and that's when her family betrayed her by telling other people that she didn't get accepted. After every time she heard that she pushed harder to improve herself. One week before orientation happened her mom got a call asking if she was still interested in coming to the early college and she said yes.
