Allison hands me another peanut butter cup. The wrapping is tossed to her waste bin by her dresser. We announced a night in, at least until Lydia's party starts. We planned on getting ready together soon. I offered to help Derek control his betas considering that it's the full moon. Derek said that with they will be even more stronger and wilder, so my life would be in danger if I was there. He made me promise to stay with Scott at the party.
"Clear your schedule," Lydia bounds in the room with bags from Macy's in her hands. "This could take a while."
We stand up, smiling. Why does she have so many bags? It's just one party.
"How many outfits do you plan on wearing tonight?" Allison stares at the three bags on the bed, where we were just sitting.
Lydia pulls out a bodycon dress with black and grey stripes. "It's my birthday party. I'm thinking host dress," She holds the dress up to her body then sets it down. "evening dress, then, mm, after hours casual."
Wow. That is a lot of dresses. This is Lydia, though. She does go all out for things.
"I noticed that you didn't send out any invites." Allison states.
Lydia pulls out another dress. "It's the biggest party of the year, Allison. Everyone knows."
"That means everyone is coming?" I ask, sitting down by the bags, peering inside.
Lydia hums in response.
"I was wondering if maybe this year things, you know, might be different." Allison struggles to find the right words to say.
Lydia keeps pulling dresses out of the bags from Macy's. "Why would anything be different?"
Allison shrugs. "Just 'cause things have been off lately. Things and people. Like Jackson."
Lydia tenses up at her ex boyfriend's name. She turns to Allison with slightly narrowed eyes. "Why do you care about Jackson?"
I shoot Allison a look to stop talking. I grab a deep blue dress with a skater skirt out of the second bag. "Do you know if he's coming tonight?"
"Everyone's coming." Lydia repeats. She points to the dress in my hand. "That's for you."
I smile at the dress, holding it up to see it fully. This would look really cute with a pair of heeled ankle boots and a leather jacket. I stand up and hold it up to me. "Thank you, Lydia."
"You're welcome." Lydia chirps. She picks up a carmel colored dress. "This one's American Rag. Mm, I love it. For me, not for you." A floral dress is held up to Allison. "This one's material girl. It's for you."
Mom raps her knuckles on the wall to let us know she's in here. I smile, showing off the dress.
"Ms. Argent, what do you think of this one?" Lydia shakes a blue strapless dress.
"Oh, it's lovely." Mom smiles, leaning up against the wall. "Clara, Allison, uh, can I grab you two for a moment to talk? Just the three of us."
"Um, can we do it later?" Allison asks, motioning to Lydia to show that we are busy.
Mom rubs her shoulder. "Actually, uh, to be honest, sooner would be - would be better."
Lydia whirls around. "Party's at ten."
"Um, will you two be around before then?" Mom questions.
