"Ordinary. Must be a nice word to use once and a while, however.....that word doesn't apply to one that is anything BUT ordinary. That ONE being me, Emmaline. Em or Emma for short. Anyways, my journey (unlike most) begins .... with a haze. It's unfortunate, yes, I know, not as detailed as most would like, perhaps I was drinking too much, or maybe it was something more.... sinister at play. But that is how it began. I'll go more into depth in a moment so hang with me, things are about to get crazy....."

----

SIX MONTHS AGO....

*BEEP. BEEP. BEEP!!!*

UGH! That DAMN alarm. My body is still stiff from the lull of slumber that consumed my body, and it made me want to succumb to the urge to remain in my cocoon of blankets on my twin sized bed just a LITTLE while longer. Just as my mind started to finally drift into the oasis Dreamland I hear my door opening and withhold the groan of frustration that almost escapes my lips. So much for a LITTLE longer.

I didn't even have time to prepare for it as I was ungraceful pounced on by an annoying pest. Well....I guess some would say little brother.....same thing I guess. "WAKE UPPPPP!!!" He screamed into my ear.

*WHACK!*

Was it mean? Probably. Did I care? Not particularly. As I fully lifted the covers off my body I looked to the ground where I had successfully knocked my younger brother Maxwell (Max for short) to the ground. His hazel eyes glared up at me from his place on the ground with nothing but PURE annoyance. His ashy brown hair was shirt but longer on the top, causing bits to flop over his features, concealing some of the freckles that were on his cheeks and nose. Hmm, wakes me up and HE is the one looking annoyed?

"Karmas a bitch, Maxy boy." I retorted back to him with a grin growing on my features, only furthering the scowl marring his adolescent features.

"DO NOT call me that, Em." Max grumbled out in annoyance as he threw a pillow, as ungraceful as his attack earlier, I was surprised it even hit me. Little brat. Standing to his feet with a childish stomp and dusting off the imaginary dusty from his plaid patterned PJ's, he crossed his arms over his chest, and narrowed his eyes "Mom is making breakfast, so MOM said get moving before she leaves for work." He ordered before walking towards the door. He was lucky too. Because had the door remained open longer, he would have gotten slammed by the incoming pillow I threw towards his smaller stature.

"Brat." I grumble once more under my breath as I haul myself out of bed and grab my headphones to turn on my favorite music (Well, current favorite music...but hey, Sabrina Carpenter is the IT girl to listen too right now) I made my way to the closet, nearly stumbling on the converse sneakers on the side of my bed, and prepared to get ready for the day.

"EMMALINE, HURRY UP!!!" Her mothers voice yelled out, echoing through the headphones. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and turned up the volume to 'Taste'.

=================

"EM!!!!" The voice bellowed throughout the halls of the two-story home. Again. Breaking through the music motivating my morning....now slightly less motivated. I trudged down the last few steps of the stairs to the kitchen that was adjacent to the foyer and Living room. I opted for a more casual look for school today. Wide leg whitewashed denim jeans, platformed converse and a white crop top that was DEFINETLY going to get me dress coded. My oversized black leather jacket was draped over my arm with my brown leather satchel bad. My shoulder length dark blonde hair was in messy waves. I went to take the buttered toast from the plate by the toaster and placed it into my mouth. I was vibing, that was, until my mom knocked my headphones from my ear.

"Hey....EARTH to Emmaline." My mother echoed out, wearing her simple standard 'mom' outfit. Linen grey pants, a black blouse and matching grey vest. Her hair that at one point matched my own, peppered with hints of grey was pulled back into a low bun. "I asked if you were going to be late for practice or not?" she asks, clearly her tone more agitated after repeating her question.

I only offered a simple shrug. "Mmhmmm?" I mumbled as I took another bite of my toast.

If looks could kill, I'd be deceased right about now. Her face deadpanned and mirrored the perfect 'mom look' that mothers tend to ace. "That's not an answer." she says.

I adjusted my satchel bag at rushed out towards the door "Yeah, yeah, practice tonight....and I'm going to Toby's for studying." I yelled over my shoulder. Only tonight. WAS not a study session. There was this party at Jamie Carlsons house, the IT guy of the football team, luckily being on the cheer squad included my invite. I wasn't missing out on ALL the fun, besides, what's the worst that could happen?  She wouldn't even find out the truth.

Little did I know.....this night would change the course of my life forever. Ordinary was overrated anyways, right?
