Last Day

Allona's POV
I bit my lip looking down at my exam. It was the last exam of the year and I needed to make a good grade. Then I felt a light kick on my left leg. I looked back to see a familiar blue haired face staring at me with a grin behind his prosthetic. I looked at him and then smiled lightly while turning back to my test. I just needed one more answer and then I'd be done. I skimmed the paper looking for the answer then bubbling in "D" on my answer sheet. I got up slowly and walked quietly to the teachers desk and turned in my paper. This test was everything to me. I had to get a good grade to get into MIT. It was my dream school and it was all I wanted. Especially because I couldn't pay myself I had to rely on grades. Mr. Johnson looked at the answer key many times and looked at the test again. Marking off a couple answers. It was hard to see what he was doing because he demanded we stay five feet away from his desk as all times. He said that he hated teenagers and didn't want to be near our filthy air. While he was grading I looked over to see Sal getting up and walking over. He stood next to me and hesitated before turning in his work. He was trying to get into MIT too and didn't want to screw up. I hope he gets in. He deserves it since what happened to his friend Chug. I caught him staring at me and he turned away quickly looking at the floor. I could just feel the heat coming off of his face. I whispered, "What's wro-" I was cut off as Mr. Johnson handed us both our tests. I looked over at sal's test to see a blood red 93 on his paper. Then I hesitantly looked at mine. I made a 91. I was so relieved we both handed back our tests and walked out. "Great job today." I gleamed. He looked over at me and stopped me in my tracks. He took off his prosthetic. I saw the scars and burns but he was still so handsome. He gave me a big smile and then hugged me tight. "You did amazing." He replied putting back on his mask. We walked out the building and I got into his car. We were finally free of high school. It was time to head out to the beach. We had to leave kind of early because we had to take a plane to get to Hawaii. We wanted to go big for our senior outing. He drove back to the apartments and I got out running to my place. "See you in a bit!!" I yelled as he ran and waved. This was the start of something great.
