I woke up in the same giant, messy, and mundane room I always wake up in. Most people would kill to have a room like mine, but I am never in the mood to appreciate things. I guessed it was around 12:00 because of the  and all the commotion going on outside. I sat up on my bed and sighed. A little over a month and I will be king, I thought to myself. The truth is I would like nothing to do with this kingdom or any human in the world for that matter. I buried my head in my stuffed bear Jake, as this thought continues to taunt my brain and torment my body. Ah.. anxiety. I begin to close my eyes again when I hear that sweet and tender voice I hear every morning. "Kai, would you mind getting out of bed" I groaned "just a few more minutes momma" My mom was my favorite person in the world. If it weren't for her I'd be long gone by now. Her voice started to turn a bit more sour because of her frustration, "Just get the hell out of bed Kyle, you need to prepare for the ceremony. You have another training session in thirty minutes and you need to eat breakfast" I chuckled and rolled my eyes. Even she has to go through with this plan that my dad has. I stood up and stepped over all the papers, toys, and whatever other crap to get to the door. Who knows how long it's been since my room was cleaned. I refuse to let anyone, even servants, into my room. As I opened the door I was greeted with those familiar devilish eyes that seemed to pierce through your soul. His eyes were a red that resembled a blazing fire; a sign that he was definitely not happy, but I remained unfazed. "Yo, Dad, beautiful day isn't it", I exclaimed in a very sarcastic tone. I looked at him and smiled cheekily. One could tell he wanted to scream by the way his lips quivered, but all he murmured was "you better be ready son.." He turned around and stomped off. I wonder what got him so ticked off this time. It wasn't a rare occurrence for his demon side to come out a little. I lazily stumbled down my long ass flight of stairs and collapsed when I made it to the bottom. I hate life.. The clock read 1:10, which meant only twenty minutes left. The kitchen was a ways away so I raced down the halls and around the corners to find a plate full of food most folks would consider gourmet or whatever. I ate the meal with haste and began for the main exit. "Wait up" I heard a faint echo throughout the palace, yet I knew who it was. My best friend Caden caught up to me and was breathing heavily from running down flights of stairs.  "How's my pessimistic, dumbass, potato of a friend doing today". I laughed. Caden was the only one who really could make me laugh. "You know I'm always fabulous bro bro", I said sarcastically. "Ready for another bland day where I waste my time and don't achieve anything." He pats me on the back "Awe, cheer up sport. You'll never know when you'll find you future wife", he said as he chuckled. "Pshhh, you are a funny guy and that's the funniest thing I've heard all week" We walked down the path that was exclusive to us royals, and like always many of the middle class smiled at us from the sides. I tried to read their faces but I couldn't ever tell if they really were genuine. The same old depressing and annoyed look remained on my face as I hear the female royals gossip about me and Caden. "You got to smile.. S m i l e", Caden said loudly into my ear. I rolled my eyes but listened to his advise, and gave a fake smile that would appear real to anyone who didn't know me. The girls giggled and waved, but I knew what they would think if they really knew me. "So, who's gonna be your wife Caden", I said in a mocking tone. He points to a brunette girl with silvery eyes and pointed ears. "Something about elves really attracts me" he whispered. Although everyone in the kingdom looked human, every single person had ancestors of a distinct race, which affects your looks a bit, and your powers immensely. My dad is a demon and my mom is Druid, which makes an interesting couple, but unfortunately I only got the demon powers. Th east lands fight for equality; or so my father says. He seems to be giving certain races, such as the demons, a sense of superiority over the others, and it has greatly disrupted the balance
in the lands. Caden pokes me and asks, "Watcha thinking about" I sigh.. "It's nothing" In reality it feels like the weight of the world will be falling on my shoulders. My asshole father will  create too big of a gap between races, and since I'm a demon how will people entrust their faith in me. I don't even want this role as a leader! A depressed and cynical person like me just stay at home and rot in hell like demons do. I realized my smile has turned into a frown so I tried to force myself to smile even bigger. I thought of my mother, and Caden, and me being free, but the stress and anxiety was an anchor preventing any happiness; reality being the chain attached. Before I could finish my thought, we had arrived to where I would prepare for the crowning ceremony. The doors were opened and I walked in to see many adults and kids awaiting our arrival.
