My breath came out in short gasps, my body screaming at me to stop, to slow down, just let him catch up. I slammed against the cold, concrete-like wall and slipped to the floor, feeling myself slowly losing consciences "No", I thought, "I won't go back." With as much will as I could muster, I threw myself off the floor and was running before I could fully comprehend that I was moving again. I ducked through the hallways, though it seemed that every hallway I cleared, two more appeared. Jeez, how big was this place?!
I turned the corner, and registered an exit sign. Badly lit, to small for the importance it held, and half hidden by ladder that was stood up striving to reach the ventilation system; but there. And in front of it.
A figure.
The glint of steal.
The swish through the air.
The blinding pain.
And then?
Nothing.

Violet poured the bowl of cereal with about as much enthusiasm as you can expect from a thirteen year old up at three in the morning with a migraine. She marveled at how the milk splashed over the Cheerios, creating a small splash zone around the bowl. Another night, another migraine, another day of wishing...
Doesn't matter what she was wishing, though she was getting real tired of having to keep doing this. At this rate she had the kitchen layout memorized, and had had Cheerios so many times that she didn't know how I had more she could take.
Sighing, she shuffled into the living room. She didn't turn on the tv, for fear that the others would here her.
They weren't really her family, just some people that she shared a house with. It was big, with a good chunk a bedrooms and bathrooms, with a cozy feel.
They were all in the same boat, and even if the others didn't feel the side effects.
You see, all them had something very special.
They were all...
Video game characters.
Sometimes that was a blessing, as some of them had lived for over 150 years.
Sometimes, though, it was a curse.
