ARIELLA RIVERA WAS THE daughter of Luca and Olivia Rivera. They loved their daughter so much, but they were taken from the world all too soon. When Ariella was 15, her parents got into a car accident. A car ran a stop sign and rammed into them. Ariella was, from then on, raised by her grandparents.

Her grandparents were too far into their own grief, so she went off the rails. She started hanging out with the wrong people. She started getting high every day and drunk every night. She ended up in the same crowd as Erin Lindsay.

The two of them were taken in by Hank and Camille Voight. Her grandparents, again, were there but were grief-stricken and heartbroken. Ariella and Erin got their acts together, went through rehab, and came out better on the other side.

When she was old enough, she joined the academy, got in, and when she graduated, her grandparents were there, smiling brightly at her. She knew that wherever her parents were, they were looking down on her with smiles on their faces.

Working her way through the force, she ended up working in the Sex Crimes division. While on a case, she met Antonio Dawson, whose eye was also caught as soon as he saw her.
