Jealousy of a Brother

Today was a special day for Edward. Today is the day that was going to change his life forever. Although Edward didn't know that he still felt that it was going to be a good day. Edward has short, glossy blonde hair with bright blue eyes. Whenever anyone looked directly at his eyes they get lost in their golden beauty. They are as pure as gold and because of that, it's really hard to lie to his face. Everyone thinks that he is special because they have never seen anyone with gold eyes. So this makes him the most popular boy in the school.

Today Edward woke up to the sound of people cheering. It has been a while since anyone ever cheered due to the fact that his mother has a big belly. Whenever he asks anyone why his mother has a big belly they either change the subject or say that he will know soon enough. Edward was very annoyed because he is not a morning person. Grumbling and stretching he went downstairs to get some breakfast and then get ready for school. When he got downstairs he was greeted with people cheering for something. When they realised that he was in the room they moved apart to make room for him to reach something. After about 10 minutes they revealed a woman with a bundle on her hands and staring at him desperately. He was shocked to realise that the woman was his mother. The bundle in her hand was the most curious thing he has ever seen. Curiosity got the best of him as he slowly, step by step moved towards the bundle. The bundle suddenly moved, Edward jumped back in surprise but quickly recovered. Then started to walk toward his mother once again. When he finally reached his mother the first thing he did was look inside the bundle. There it was. Inside was the smallest person he has ever seen. Edward has always have been private with his feelings, not even his mother can make him gasp. First time in a long time Edward gasped. The little creature was slimy with red-rosy cheeks. His mother took a deep breath and said ''Edward honey, Meet your little brother.''

Edward blinked for a little while and was trying to understand what his mother meant by 'little brother'. He remembered how his friend Winry said ''My Mom says that little sisters & brothers come from their mother's stomach.'' Edward suddenly remembered that his mother did not have a big belly. Then Edward realised what everyone meant when they said he will know soon enough. After a little while, he smiled and asked 'Am I gonna be a big brother?'', ''Yes, So are you going to be a good big brother to her, Ok?'' said her mother smiling. Edward said yep while grinning like an idiot. Edward couldn't believe that he, Edward Elric is a big brother in the age of 6. He couldn't wait to tell everyone in school the good news. Edward laughed while running around Alphonse.

Edward has never been this happy in his whole life because he can't believe that he is a big brother. Although he is happy about the baby he was kind of jealous. 'He gets all the attention' thought Edward, 'Like today granny Pinko came to our home and she didn't even know I was home until I came to her and said I was home.' he thought.

'Alphonse is growing fast, he is already 3 years old.'' said Trisha, his mother. ''look at him, she follows me everywhere like an Angel of cuteness.'' gushed his father Hohenheim. Edward is 8 years old. He has gotten more stubborn and unbearable over the years. Edward is grounded for a week for hitting his brother and shouting that he wished he was never born. Trisha couldn't understand how Edward got so stubborn. He was a good kid before Alphonse was born. 'No, no way. Is Edward jealous of Alphonse?', Trisha asked her self, ' but why? we haven't loved him more than Alphonse ?' She recalled the hurt, anger and pain flash through her son's gold eyes when he said he wishes that Alphonse was never born.' I got to make this right before it gets worse.' she thought and walked to her son's door. Taking a deep breath she hesitantly knocked on the door. ''go away'' was the immediate response from Edward. Trisha sighed this was how she thought Edward react so she said loud only for Edward to hear 'Ed, it's me, your mother. I came here to talk to you about your behaviour'', Trisha had her fingers crossed for Edward's response. Edward responded the way anyone thought it was impossible for Edward Elric.

Crash! Edward threw open the door and cried ''Mom I'm sorry.'' while hugging his mother. ''I'm sorry that I am jealous of Alphonse '' sobbed Edward still clinging on to his mother's dress, ''Edward honey, tell me why you are jealous of Alphonse ?.'' asked his mother while patting him comfortingly on the back and hugging him back. ''Because everyone loves him and everyone hates me'' whispered Edward hesitantly. 'Honey we don't hate you and we don't love him more than you. The reason she gets all the attention is that she needs attention to help her grow up. I thought you would understand but I should know that you are still young. So will you promise me not to hate your brother but love her instead?'' Asked Trisha kneeling down to look at her son's golden eyes. 'Yes mother, I'm sorry for not understanding.'' replied Edward smiling.
