Chapter 2: Reincarnate?

Main hall,

"With all due respect, NuWa goddess, why me?" Bai Chuan said while kneeling on the floor.

"The emperor of the Huang Dynasty... he's incurable. He has caused the death of so many innocent people! He already has so much, yet he is unsatisfied and wants more. He has so many buildings and rooms yet he wants more, and so he forced the innocent people out of their houses to make more room for his selfish needs."

"This behaviour of emperor is unacceptable! Which is why I want to send you down, to help out. You will be next in line to the throne. You will not give in to greed and you will help the innocent people. The emperor has 6 kids, but only one son. His son isn't bright and often creates trouble. He is exactly like his father. He doesn't care about the lives of the people either. If you reincarnate as his son, you will be next in line for throne. The emperor isn't young either, he will have at most another 20 years to live." NuWa goddess stood up and walked towards him.

NuWa goddess helped him up, "But..once I send you down, your memories will fade away. 9,000 years here in the heavens...you won't remember any of it."

"After I accomplish this task...and after I die as a mortal...will I come back and regain my memories?" Bai Chuan asked, now thinking about Ru Yan.

"No. You will be able to return to the heavens but... your powers and memories won't return to you. But you're a fast learner, I'm sure you will regain your strength after that." NuWa goddess said.

"Do...I have to do it?" Bai Chuan asked in a respectful tone.

"Yes, I hope you won't disappoint me." NuWa goddess said.

"I.." Bai Chuan hesitated.

"There isn't anyone else that can replace me?" Bai Chuan asked.

"No. I handed you this task because I trust you. You are the most suitable candidate. At a young age, you've surpassed many and became a god. Who would be a better candidate than you?" NuWa goddess said.

Bai Chuan didn't show any emotion. He gritted his teeth, "I'll obey, Goddess NuWa."

"Rise. I'll be counting on you. You may go. Be prepared. You will leave tomorrow." Goddess NuWa said.

"Yes, Goddess NuWa. I shall take my leave." Bai Chuan bowed and left the main hall.

Bai Chuan walked past an apple tree. He stopped in his tracks and walked towards it. He touched the bark of the tree and closed his eyes.

*Flashback*

"The apples look so good..." Ru Yan's mouth started to water as she stared at the rosy red apples on the tree.

Ru Yan tried jumping to grab the apples but she couldn't reach them.

Ru Yan closed her eyes and started to cast a spell.

She started to float in the air. She rose and reached her hand out to grab the apple. Just then, her spell went out of control and she rose higher up in the air.

She tried to stop it but she couldn't.

Just then, Bai Chuan was going for a walk in the garden. He saw Ru Yan and quickly cast a spell to stop her from rising up further.

Ru Yan immediately stopped rising up further but started to fall from above. Bai Chuan quickly ran towards her and caught her in his arms.
