The Bite

Sunday Night,8:28

The night before back to school. I can't believe summer is already over. With the hot weather we're having in Yuuei, it actually feels like the beginning of summer.  I went to the bathroom to wash up my face but before I went to bed early ,I  stared at the mirror for a few minutes.

My round pink cheeks stood out like a sore thumb. My short brunette hair reached down to my shoulders almost towards my breasts. 'Maybe I should trim some of my hair?' I though mentally at myself while caressing a strip of my hair.

Before I went back to my room to fix my lacrosse stick,I heard some movements outside my window. 'Crap!' Like an idiot that I'am,I grabbed a broom from the closet and went outside slowly.

At the front porch,I stood there quietly with the cold air hitting me.  All of sudden something or someone popped up in front of me. The person was upside down... on my roof.

We both let out a scream while I held up the broom like a baseball bat,ready to swing.  I then saw clearly who was the person.  The person was girl around my age with long curly green hair and freckles  on her cheeks. 

"Izumi,what the hell are you doing here?!" I exclaim at her,sighing in relief that it was just my best friend clowning around but at this hour...

"You weren't answering your phone!" She got up on her feet carefully. Not knowing she had leaves on her curly messing hair .

I shook my head in disapproval,I took off the leaves from hair,leaving my best friend pretty embarrassed. She let out a awkward cough which made her very adorable. "Why are you holding a broom?"

It was my turn to blush. Jeez I shouldn't have laughed at Izumi being a mess. I'm holding a freaking broom as a weapon! How is that going to solve any problems if it was  an actual intruder. " I though you were a predator."

Izumi was taken back like she smelled something bad. "A pre-I - wha - look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this. I saw my step dad leave 20 minutes ago. Dispatch called. They're bringing in every officer from the Yuuei  Department, and even State Police." Izumi eyes sparkle with interest as she spoke. Her long green curly hair sway as the wind blew.

Izumi biological dad left her and her mother at a young age since he was always drunk and was not satisfied on having a daughter. He was not a great guy at all. Inko works as a nurse so Izumi hardly sees her and spends most of her time spying and hanging with her stepfather,Toshinori Yagi. Toshinori is the towns sheriff plus  he's also the coolest parent ever. He can be strict at times but not like my adopted father.

"For what?" I asked Izumi. It was very strange town. I find it hard to believe that something mysterious is happening at the moment.Well actually nothing really happens in Yuuei.

"Two joggers found a body in the woods." Izumi spoke calmly but fidgeted her whole body with excitement. No one should be this happy to be hearing news like that.

"Really? A dead body?" My eyes dilated in surprise. Literally I just said that nothing really happens in Yuuei. I guess I was wrong.

"No,a body of water. Yes, dummy , a dead body." She playfully hit my shoulder as we decided to sit on my porch. We both look at the sky,the moon was bright and full tonight.
