"Now our next client is Annalise Jones. She's twenty seven, brown hair and hazel eyes. She was engaged a few years ago but due to untold circumstances it ended.
Her preferences in men are dark hair; eye colour is not a problem for her. She's 5'8, so she's looking for someone taller; maybe around 6ft or so. Must have a job, be confident and independent, any clients that match the description?"
Taking my eyes off the screen in front of me I turn to face the people in the room. Eight pair of eyes peers back at me, none of them looking for a potential match.
"Well?" I snap, pushing back a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
The sound of pages rustling fills the room as my employees search for a potential love interest for Annalise.
Taking a seat I scroll through the laptop, looking at my male clients. Incompetent, if I could I would run this company by myself, but there simply weren't enough hours in the day.
Nibbling down on my bottom lip; a nasty habit I picked up from high school, I feel a pang of frustration as I scroll through the list of potential clients.
Too snotty. Too uptight. Too short. Blonde hair. Currently unemployed. This is ridiculous.
Two raps on the door catch my attention.
"Come in" I say as I look up from the laptop.
Lucy my assistant enters looking slightly frazzled, perhaps the job is too much for her? Will I have to look into seeking another assistant?
"Yes Lucy?"
"Miss Lee, your sister is here. She's demanding to see you"
I fight back the sigh trying to break free. Of course she's demanding to see me in the middle of a meeting.
"Tell her to wait in my office until the meeting is over" I say dismissing Lucy.
A frown marred my face as I notice my employees once again staring at me. A small part of me wonders if there is something on my face, but a quick glance at the laptops reflection confirms there's nothing there. Throwing a glare their way they quickly get back to work.
Thirty four minutes later and I have found a suitable client for Annalise. Tommy Green; a 6ft Caucasian male, blue eyes and black hair, also partner of a large hotel firm. Bonus points for being easy on the eye.
Smoothing down my skirt I quickly stand up, shooting orders at Karen to fix a date between the two; I have a sister to attend to. Heels clacking against the polished floor I make my way towards my office not surprised to see that she has already made herself comfortable.
Pushing the glass door open I step into my office, the Columbian blue walls instantly calming me. Avoiding looking at the being sitting in the chair I cast a glance out of the windows adjacent to me, dark clouds roll across the sky painting a dark grey canvas; so much for summer.
Stepping around my sister I take a seat at my desk.
"What do you want Lizzie?" I ask cutting to the chase.
"It's Elizabeth, and hello to you too Aphrodite." Her bright red lips turn upwards as she says my name.
"It's Aphie" I hiss.
Why is she here? This day is slowly getting worse; she's the cherry on top of the icing. I could bet my aunt's wedding ring that I'll have a headache once this conversation's over.
"I honestly don't understand why you prefer being called Aphie, Aphrodite is a lovely name."
I fight the urge to glare at her, Aphrodite is a lovely name. But after having a condescending mother and sister constantly calling you Aphrodite every five minutes it becomes annoying.
"It's none of your concern. Now what do you want? Shouldn't you be off with your latest toy boy gallivanting around town?" I bite out, feeling my impatience reach a higher level.
"Me and Peter broke up." She replies, ignoring the snide tone I had just used.
"That still doesn't explain why you're here."
"I have a proposition for you" She says as she crosses her legs and leans forward. I frown as her cleavage makes an appearance; it's no secret that she's had a boob job, along with her killer long legs she is a sight to look at.
I feel my stomach churn as I swallow the words, this couldn't be good. Letting out a sigh I ask her to precede, a drink after work sounds amazing right now.
"I want you to find me a love match."
What?
"I'm sorry I think I misheard you, come again?"
She can't be serious. This is a practical joke, it has to be.
"I want you to find me a love match. A guy I can date, someone that I can marry..."
Kill me now. Why is she talking about marriage? Her longest relationship lasted seven months and that only ended because her boyfriends daddy had cut his allowance.
"Lizzie look-"
"Elizabeth!" She interrupts her eyes narrowing at me.
"Elizabeth I don't think that I can help you-" she cuts me off again.
"Aphrodite Lee you either help me find a suitable guy or I'll tell mother about grandmothers china vase." She smirks at me causing a small snarl to leave my lips.
Spawn of Satan, that's what she is.
This will be bad for business. Who in their right mind would willingly date her? And blackmail?! Really is she this desperate?
"So we have a deal?" She smiles sweetly, standing up and smoothing down non-existent creases on her black pencil skirt.
"I'll start looking" I spit out through gritted teeth, my fists balled by my sides.
"Goodbye Aphrodite, keep in touch."
Apparently I don't have the means to glare a hole through the back of her skull as she saunters out of my office.
A drink sounds fucking great right now.
