Chapter Eight

Lucas PoV

"Feel like a swim?" Maya asked as she stood up taking her shirt off

I smiled slightly, she was impulsive.

I looked up at her but that's when I noticed her body, I didn't notice it before when she was stood below the lifeguard chair

My smile dropped off my face, her right side of her body was all bruised and it looked painful, she also had a lot of scars some looked newer others didn't. It made me wonder what had happened.

"Maya are you okay?" I asked extremely concerned about her, but she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about

Her eyed widened but she quickly laughed, which just confused me even more "I'm just so clumsy, I banged into a table"

She smiled brightly but something was still off about her story, I didn't want to push her over a hunch maybe it was just a bruise from a table and I was overreacting and being protective for no reason. But then again nobody is that clumsy.

"If you say so" I muttered under my breath as I stood up

"Sure let's swim" I matched her smile with my own

Maya PoV

Thankfully Lucas let it go, I don't know how I forgot.

This was so stupid of me, it's such a weak mistake I shouldn't of slipped up.

I didn't think that I'd still look injured, I guess bruised rubs take a while to heal. I'm just glad the rest of me has healed.

He agreed to go for a swim with me which was great maybe I could take both of our minds off it.

Great way to ruin the moment Maya.

"Race you!" I quickly said and ran off leaving Lucas behind me as I headed for the water but he was fast and ran in front of me

Lucas was already in the water and he had his back to me so I jumped onto his back and wrapped my legs around him

He stumbled forward slightly in the water but we weren't in deep enough to fall down, so he steadied him self and laughed a little

"Hi there" he said slightly turning his head to the side trying to look at me

I leaned my head down a little so he could kinda see me "Hi" I giggled and got down from his back standing in the sand

I was smaller than him, though I was smaller than most people.

The sun was behind him lighting up his face, it just made him look more handsome. It was like a halo around him

I could of stayed in this moment forever.

But of course I didn't. I moved to the side and walked further into the water taking myself away from us getting any closer

Maybe us both going here alone was a mistake.

Lucas swam forward up to me "Are you sure you're okay" he asked again, it was sweet he was concerned but I didn't like the thought of him asking loads of questions

I rolled my eyes at him "I'm fine Huckleberry" I then splashed water at him playfully

He grinned widely and moved his hand through the water splashing me back, I pushed my, now wet, hair back from my face and glared at him

We playfully swam around in the water splashing and throwing water at each other

When Lucas suddenly came up from behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist stopping me from swimming away, he then placed his hands either side of my hips
