Soul mate AU: When they touch their soul mate, their gray eyes gain color (Blue, green, brown, etc.)

  "Whoa, Barney, uh, your eyes..!" Ted stares at the confused blonde across from him in their booth.

"What about my eyes?" Barney raises an eyebrow.

"They're blue."

"They're what!?" Barney swiftly gets out of his chair and runs to the men's room, passing Marshall and Lily on his way. Ted excitedly waits for Barney to come back, telling the couple that just sat down what happened.

"His eyes are blue..? Are you sure?" Lily asks, looking from Marshall to Ted.

"My eyes don't deceive me."

Lily snorts. "Mhm, keep telling yourself that, Ted." Marshall stifles a giggle himself and looks away, just in time to see Barney walking back with an angry expression.

"The girl I scored last night! She must've.. she must've glued contacts in my eyes!" The three sitting down watched as he tried to make up a bunch of excuses and theories, then Ted notices the whites of his eyes are red.

"You didn't try to take out your eye, did you?"

Barney stays silent, telling them all what happened without a word.

"You know what this means though, right?" Lily smiles at Barney. Barney smiles sarcastically before falling to the floor.

"I MUST BE DYING!" He yells, almost everyone at the bar looks at him and rolls their eyes. Ted groans and face plants into his palms.

"Dude! Really?? Barney gets a soul mate before me?? Come on!" Lily smiles and pats Ted's hand.

"Aw, don't be like that.."

《Now, to you》

"WHAT!!!!"

You don't remember having touched ANYONE last night, yet, here you are, staring at yourself in the mirror right at your (E/C) eyes.

"No no no nononono!" You scramble to grab your phone. "This can't be happening, I don't even know who it is! This is worse than losing your v-card to a stranger."

You scold yourself by slapping your face (way too lightly) and you call your roommate.

"(R/n) please who did you have over last night." You ask into the phone.

"Uh, some guy, uh.." She slurs her words and pauses for a few seconds. "I don't remember. Why?" She's definitely hung-over, you conclude.

"I think he might be my soul mate. I-I high fived him at like 2 am after we played a few rounds in this video game-anyways, do you remember where you met him?" You ramble on before she hangs up and sends you an address to a bar downtown.

A few hours later, you arrive at the bar, searching for the man you had met last night. He had blonde hair and grey eyes, as most people do. But what you remember best about him was he smelt strongly, probably way too strongly, of straight up man.

But that's a good thing. Every girl loves that smell, mahogany and some kind of wood, right?

You arrive just in time to see the blonde man leaving with another woman.

"Oh." You stare at him as he persuades another girl to leave the bar with him. Instead of intervening, you find a seat at the bar and start to down a drink, which will turn into many.

"You okay?" Robin walks up to you as Lily and Marshall share an uneasy look. "The bar closed like.. half an hour ago." She says. You turn to her and immediately start crying.

"Whoa whoa.. uh.." Robin looks to the couple sitting at the booth for help but they nope out of it quickly and pretend to not pay attention.

"What happened?" She asks, you just sob uncontrollably into her sweater.

"My.. mY sOul Mate JusT FuCKed me Over!" You cry between sobs and sniffles, Robin is barely able to make out what you say but gasps.

"Who's your soul mate?" Robin asks.

"I dOn't.. kNow!!" You start sobbing violently again. Robin awkwardly pats your back. "He's blonde and.. and.." You sniffle a bit and back up from her before you accidentally drool on her nice red sweater.

"And he was talking to some girl trying to get her home." You say, starting to calm down your tear gates even though you are practically broken in multiple pieces on the inside.

"Barney. Barney?" Robin almost cringes to herself.

"Is that his name? I met him last night and we played video games after he was done having fun with my roommate-" You have to stop yourself before you start crying again. "I need some ice cream." You whimper.

Robin hugs you this time, rubbing your back softly. "He's a man, that's what they do." You could hear Marshall yell a soft "hey!" in the background but you were too busy trying not to cry to care.

"Okay, but for real, he's just been trying to ask girls if their eyes changed last night. He's been searching for you all day." She says, your eyes widen. "So he wasn't trying to sleep with them?" You wondered.

"I need to find him, do you know where I can?" You ask, suddenly your (E/c) gaining some light. Robin smiles.

"This is it. Go get your man." Robin says. Her, Marshall, Lily and you got into a taxy together and rode all the way to Barney's house. You were nervous. Really nervous. But Robin and Lily helped build you your courage and helped you get on that elevator and ride to the top of Barney's building.

You knock on the door, trying to nope out of the situation you are in. Oh the situation you are in is ridiculous and makes losing your v-card to a stranger look better than this.

You're about to turn around, tell yourself that you are stupid, and leave, but the door opens.

"Barney?"
