It was nighttime.

All was quiet in the small, dingy neighborhood ; the only places that illuminated the streets were random bars.

Most of the buildings were silent, abandoned. Those still in use were quite shabby due to a lack of maintenance; mold grew on their walls and the paint peeled off of them in quantity. The narrow alleys in between smelled foul - courtesy of the sheer amount of garbage and waste left there to rot.
One could hear the crickets at all times, the flies buzzing by and the owls hooting, and would have been able to see rats running rampant had there have been enough light.
Some drunken individuals could be found stumbling aimlessly here and there, and it wasn't uncommon to see many of the homeless simply sleeping on the sides of the dirt roads in tattered rags, obviously malnourished and miserable.

A young woman in her twenties ran down the streets, a small basket cradled in her arms. She constantly looked over her shoulder as she went, her blue eyes flashing in the dark, fearing to see her pursuer every time. She adjusted her hood, trying and failing to cover her long, bright red locks. Her legs burned; she'd been sprinting for a long time, lacking the luxury of having a car, a train, taxi, or even a bike.

The main city wasn't far, if her memory was correct.
She could make it - she was fairly certain that the man chasing her had been left in the dust, but didn't want to risk taking a rest and possibly getting caught before she succeeded in her objective.

Her surroundings slowly changed the farther she went, with dirt roads becoming asphalt and buildings improving in condition along with fewer and fewer of the homeless and intoxicated, until the woman eventually found herself in the bustling nightlife of a relatively small city. Carefully evading security officers - she didn't have the time or money to pay for train tickets - she slipped her way into the metro. She noticed other passengers make faces and try to distance themselves from her because of her pungent smell and disgusting appearance, but she paid it no mind - that was, at the moment, the least of her worries.
The redhead allowed herself a few hours to finally relax and regain her breath - it would only be a matter of time before she arrived to her destination now. She gently lifted the cloth from the basket, wary of anyone who may have been watching in order to cover it at a moment's notice.

She was greeted with wide, curious amber eyes and the baby inside tilted its head, before giving her a toothless smile. The infant had deep red hair and tan skin matching that of her mother, but her eye color resembled that of her father. The woman flinched at the memory of the evil man and instantly covered the basket, unable to bear seeing the eyes of her tormentor.

The train finally slowed to a stop, and she dodged around security once more.

She arrived at the richest community of the metropolitan city, and had the circumstances have been different, she'd have stopped to admire the gigantic, elegant estates and mansions. Instead, she hurriedly ripped off the handle of her basket in order to have less difficulty in carefully turning it to the side - mindful of its cargo - and pushing it through the bars of a gate of a random estate. She shoved it as far in as she could for further measure, and rang the doorbell before swiftly leaving. The baby wouldn't be safe as long as it was with her. At the very least, she'd have tried to secure a good place for it to live happily.

Her vision suddenly flashed and with it came a migrain, throwing her into a panic.

That was never a good sign. Her quirk always warned her of imminent danger... But the headaches only came when she couldn't escape it.

The poor, exhausted young woman forced herself to run as fast as she possibly could, but it was too late. She rounded the corner and disappeared.

A shrill scream echoed throughout the large community.

The pro heroes of the area arrived as quickly as they could...
Only to find a pool of blood. The victim was nowhere to be found, and the criminal long gone.

A young doorman yawned as he jogged over to the gate, confusion coloring his features when he saw a small basket just inside the gate, and no one in sight. He poked his head out and looked both ways, but surely enough, there wasn't a soul.
Scratching his head - he wasn't paid enough for this crap - he turned his attention to the package and lifted the cloth, only to recoil in shock.

In it lay a red-haired infant, peacefully sleeping.
