Jesse sat on the couch in his new house, staring up at the ceiling fan and watching the blades go around and around. He grabbed his lighter off the couch next to him and absentmindedly began flicking it, watching the flame come and go. He looked around his living room. The walls were bare and empty, the only decoration being the array of take out boxes scattered on the coffee table. He had barely left the house since arriving in town four days ago.

Despite the emptiness, he began to feel claustrophobic. He got up off the couch and grabbed his pack of cigarettes, stepping out onto the small back porch where the crisp air bit at his skin. He wasn't used to the cold.

He lit his cigarette and inhaled, looking out over the lights of the town in the distance. He thought of all the people living their lives here, wondering if any of them were plagued over the darkness of their past like he was. Maybe they didn't even know that such darkness existed in the world. He envied them. But he was grateful. He was given a second chance. He wondered if it was possible for him to have a life like that someday, care-free and easy, or if he would forever be haunted by what had happened.

"Fuck. I need a drink," He said to himself as he threw down his cigarette, stomping it out with his boot. Old habits died hard.

He went back inside and put on his coat and beanie. He looked in the mirror by the front door, barely recognizing his reflection before stepping out into the cold air again and slamming the door behind him.

*Thank you so much for reading! I just finished breaking bad and El Camino and got really inspired. I really felt for Jesse's character throughout the whole series and everything he has lost and I wanted to give him the happy ending he deserves.*
