She sat by the fireplace, too scared to look back
The blazing flames sometimes showed his face
A cut by his eyebrow, she knew it would have hurt
That was not just a mark but a symbol of her pain.
Now as the warmth died out she dreaded the time
She would see him like everyday else
Nothing more than to get away she wanted
But his soul seemed to haunt her now more than ever.
The house was now hers, a grave fault now she knew
Wherever she turned, she could sense his presence
He strangled her in dreams, his eyes seeking the unanswered
Nowhere was safe for the house answered his wish.
She lay there withering, an invisible hand caught her throat
Screaming for the pain to go away she fell
Even the blankets seemed to curse her folly
He was loved, she now knew, by the house itself.
Amazed by how determined he was to ruin her life
He was enthralled she thought to see her in despair
He was killing her bit by bit, end it all was all she hoped now
She could see his blood on her, she had torn him apart, knife just a toy.
A misunderstanding but that ruined it all
Their relationship seemed to have reached a dead end
Built upon lies they forced to trust the other
The deck of cards fell when his tongue slipped a bit.
They never knew who was at fault
A decision taken in haste had changed their lives
She had killed him, her hands never trembling
His eyes had penetrated hers seeking forgiveness before she cut them off.
He couldn't leave her, they had promised each other
A man of his word he had always told her
She never knew he would take it seriously
For now he wanted nothing more than to bring her to his land.
His soul never haunted her rather his memories did.
Those lovely times they had swarm before her
As the clock turned to a new sunrise she was relieved
But only for the night to take charge again.
