As I walked out into the cold air clouds gather in the sky as I make the trek home. I wonder what mom and dad will say. Probably that there so grateful I'll be staying home. Ever since I was adopted my parents have been terrified that someone would show up at our doorstep demanding their daughter back.

Anna and Declan Fitz tried for a baby for almost 10 years before they gave up. Almost two years after Anna happened to be the nurse on duty the night I was dropped off, and by some miracle they were able to take me home. It was like we were meant to be a family.

When I got closer to the blue house, I noticed a sleek black Chevy sitting in our small driveway. Walking up the stairs to our white door I noticed two people sitting in our front room. Opening the door as quickly as I can. Lucky dad fixed the squeak in the door. Closing it slowly I sat down leaning my head against the door. As voices surround me.

"What do you mean?" a worried voice asked I recognized it immediately as mom.

"Your daughters answer today were questionable." a man's voice rang out I recognized as the guy running the test. "We would like you're okay to take her to Royals school for the gifted."

"We believe your daughter is very special." a woman spoke up

"Who do you think you are? Get out of my House!" my father's voice seemed to shake the house. This is my que to leave. I start to stand up as a man rounded the corner to leave and stopped abruptly. The sobs of my mother are still in the air. My father passed the man and stopped.

"Kenny, who-when did you come in?"

I shrugged, "I while ago... what's going on?" my father looked to the man than at me and then at the floor before speaking.

"Mr. lens was just telling us about your test today. It seems as though you've passed."

"Passed...Passed! How do you pass a test you don't even know the answers to?? I-I don't even turn 16 for a week, how could I be "the one" you want? I think you are very mistaken." the man flinched at my sudden outburst of emotion.

"This isn't something that one just mistakes, trust us Kendra you are more special than you could ever imagine." he turned and looked at my parents, "we'll give you the night to decide, however when it comes down to it, don't think about you think about your daughters future. Good day." the man made his way past me and out to the driveway.

The blonde woman looked at me with wide eyes, "I'm sorry about him, however he is true, please consider coming to our school. You'll never have an opportunity like this ever again." on that note she rushed out towards the man who'd already started the car. I watched as they drove down the street and turned disappearing from sight.

"Good riddance. The 'royals' have taken over this town and I refuse to let them take over my family." my dad voiced after 10 minutes of us sitting on the blue worn couch. I looked over at him age has treated him well. His hair barely graying and only on the sides. He's noses slightly crooked and friendly crinkles at the corners of his eyes. He's usual inviting smile was turned into a frown as he got lost in his thoughts again.

"Honey." mom sighed, "what you think about the royals shouldn't affect how we think about Kenny's future." she rubbed in between her eyes and fixed the glasses. Here blue eyes were ringed with red as a sure sign she was crying. A smile stretched across her lips as she looked at me. "Ken, what do you think about Royals?"

"What's there to think about... I mean we know nothing about this school? How am I supposed to go to a school that's 5 hours away! Let alone live there?" I say as I start to pace back and forth, "I mean what if something bad happened here and I couldn't come home. What if leaving opens up jar that isn't supposed to be opened?"

Mom gave me a questionable look "what do you mean? What jar?"

I looked down at the white rug under my feet. I should've kept my big mouth shut. Dad told me not to tell mom about the file. They agreed to tell me all about my file when I turned 16, I was shy of 16 by 4 months when I went snooping.

Dad looked at me and sighed, "I gave her the case file from the night she was ... found."

"You did What!?!?! Why did you do something like that!???" mom stood up.

"Mom it wasn't his fault. I was snooping..." I sheepishly smiled and looked between the glare mom was giving dad. "And sides it's not like anything came from it... the only thing on it was that I was dropped at a church by a man who was wearing a royals pin. Other than that, nothing."

"You know... the royals school has the biggest library and archives dating back thousands of years... they could hold the key to your past..."

"Anne, are you really suggesting that she l-leaves?" Dad said a look of disbelief.

"Well why not you already handed her the match we might as well supplier her with the opportunity to start the fire." Mom sighed, "Kenny What do you say?" she sniffed. I stared between the two before directing my gaze at the family picture hanging above the couch. The smiles present on are faces. Id stared at that picture for almost my entire life trying to find something that tied me to this happy family.

I searched the 8-year-old eyes, almost as if I was waiting for a reason to say no, to stay with this happy family.

But I didn't find it.
