I slowly rose from the floor, holding the spot on my face that had previously been abused by the palm of my father's hand. The doorbell had rang so, to my relief, that asshole went to answer it. I sat there for a few seconds before hearing a familiar voice say that my UA acceptance letter had came. I knew at that moment that my life was going to change. Whether it be for the worse or for the better.
