"Dianne, you can't keep jumping to conclusions like that!" Joe shouted as Dianne paced around the room in anger. "Honestly, it was a night out with an old friend. Who even gives a shit if they were a girl or a boy?"

"Shut up, Joe. I saw the paparazzi photos - she was giving you this look, and I swear it just radiated big 'fuck me in the arse and make me scream your name' energy!"

"You're being ridiculous. Just calm the fuck down-"

Dianne gave him devil eyes, and scoffed. "You're a complete idiot. You're so blind and oblivious to her bullshit, and maybe you're the one being ridiculous."

"So I'm the idiot here? I'm the stupid one?" He retaliated. "I'm not the one over-analysing everything and being too clingy. Why can't you just accept that she was an old friend that I was just catching up with. Nothing more than that. Platonic."

"You don't get it, Joe."

Joe rolled his eyes. "I don't? What about when you're hanging around your male friends? Are you gonna look me in the eye and say you don't flirt with them? Because from a perspective, it looks like you do."

There was silence for a moment, and suddenly, he felt bad. He regretted the words he had said.

"S-shut up." She stuttered.

Joe couldn't see her face, but he could hear the tears. She simply walked upstairs, and came back down five minutes later with a backpack slung on her shoulder. Joe asked no questions - he couldn't bring himself to say anything. As she walked into the living-room area to retrieve her phone, he briefly saw her face. Her makeup was smudged, her breath was shaky and so was her hands.

Then Dianne left. She walked out of the door, with no goodbye. She didn't tell him where she was going, because she didn't really know that herself.

As Joe heard the door shut, he felt the guilt rush in his body. He got up from the sofa, and ran to the door in attempt to stop her. He held the door handle, and his hands couldn't move. His body forced his hands to stay still.

So he slumped his body against the door, his head in his hands.

And he sobbed.

Dianne knew at the back of her mind that it wasn't safe out there. Being a woman alone in London at 11PM was scary enough, and she was more vulnerable than ever, but she couldn't bear to go back into that apartment again.

Not now, anyway.

She didn't want to see his face again, not after what he had said. Truth was, those words hurt her more than you would realise. Dianne had been accused of cheating many times, not just online either, and to hear that come out of her own boyfriend's mouth broke her emotionally. She was a crying mess, and she wanted nobody to notice.

Dianne walked as far as the street-lights would take her. It was freezing outside, and she had brought nothing to warm her but a hoodie, but looking at it she realised it was Joe's hoodie. When Dianne packed the backpack, her eyes were so blurry from the tears she just threw whatever she could in there, so she didn't notice.
