The beginning

Chan

The day was getting late.I was still waiting for Hyunjin to finish his work so we could walk home together. We're best friends after all. Finally, I could make out a silhouette whom I guess is him.

'yah! Why did you take a long time?!' I said hitting him jokingly while doing so.

'Ahh hyung!!! It's not my fault you don't have a girlfriend to walk home with. Besides, Hana and I were a bit caught up and didn't realize the time...'

'Ahhh whatever...anyways how is she?'

'She's doing fine...' He said with a sheepish smile then continued his sentence. If Chan was not close enough he wouldn't hear what was saying.

'I..I..I'm planning to ask her to marry me this week'

'OH MY GOD! I'm so happy for youuuu!!!!'

Hyunjin looked at Chan with a look that only a few would know what it meant. Chan had feelings for Hana when they were young. But Chan never thought of it as anything more than a small crush and kept denying any further feelings for the said girl. He thought that if Hyunjin was happy with her then so be it. He will surely find someone soon and he will take his time in doing so.

FLASHBACK TIME

Little Chan was waiting for Hana at the park near their school. He had been waiting for a long time but none of that matters. After a time, Hana eventually came and went to Chan, careful not to wake the boy up as he was peacefully sleeping. Hana sighed as she felt guilty the boy waited for a long time. She then sat beside him and admired his features that she didn't seem to notice before. The girl had feelings for the boy for the longest time but she decided that day that she will move on. She was scared the boy won't accept her in a way. Chan woke up after a while and noticed how the girl's face was scrunched up. He then careesed her hair which made her surprised but stood still, not wanting the moment to end.

Bold-Chan Normal-Hana

"Hana-ya did I sleep for too long?" he asked with a husky voice while putting his head on her shoulder.

"A-Ani, I just arrived so I don't really know" she lied.

"Why are you stuttering Hana-ya? You look way too cute right now with your red face" he chuckled ever so slightly.

Hana then pushed him and ran away with her hands hiding her blushing face. The garden was quite big but that didn't stop Chan from finding her. Once he spotted the short girl, he sneaked his way behind her and hugged her. Hana was a blushing mess by now but didn't push him away as she didn't want to part with the warmth of Chan's body. Her 'excuse' was because of the coldness due to it being December. Chan then turned her around and cupped her face, being gentle as he didn't want to hurt her. He then proceeds to say;

"Hana-ya don't be afraid of me, I'll be the one protecting you from now."

'Aishh you know it was just a small crush and besides I found a pretty hot girl recently' The lie rolled out from his mouth smoothly even Chan was confused which statement was the lie.

Hyunjin looked at him with a relief and continued to walk to their shared apartment. The apartment was fairly big since both their parents were very rich but they decided not to spoil them too much. Chan walked to his room which was a bit bigger than hyunjins since he had to use the space for job stuff. He works as a music producer and no one was againts it since he really does have talent for it. He put his bag at the side of the bed and plopped down on it not even bothering how dirty he is. He sighed again which felt like a routine. The feeling of melancholy hit him like a truck. He brushed it off thinking it was probably because of tiredness due to overworking. Chan was never the one to show his true emotions easily and was good at hiding them. That's why he became a music producer. It was because he can show them through the music he made. They were each made with meraki.

He just hopes that Hyunjin can be happy. That's mainly the reason why he was protective towards the boy. He didn't want the boy to feel saudade which is quite a familiar feeling for him now.
