I'm starting my third semester in college now, it's been off and on at the number of people in the class so far. Maybe this time we'll have a good number of people instead of the usual four like always.
As usual the teacher stands in front of the class and introduces himself and everyone here to each other. Then goes on with the shop rules as well as the classroom rules. There's seven of us here this time so it's not too bad. The class is finally starting to grow a little more. They look like they are pretty good people so I might not get too paranoid and completely shut down.
There's one guy at the far end that's driving me crazy though. He's smiling and making funny comments over ever little thing. I can tell me and him are not going to get along at all. This is going to be a long semester.
Finally the teacher is done with talking and let's us out in the shop. I head over to the 98 Chevy s10 that I was working on putting the engine in at the end of last semester. I was hooking up the hoses and lines to the radiator when he walked over to me.
"Hey what you doing over here?" Man even when he talks he's so cheerful.
"Hooking up these lines right here. Right now I'm trying to find the right size wrench." I reply as I'm digging through the tool box to find another wrench.
"Here I think it's this size right here. Normally they all metric these lines here." He gets a wrench and puts it on there. Damn what is he trying to do take over my job here. He thinks he's really something don't he.
He tights up the lines for me and then puts up the wrench. "Thanks." I say trying my best to sound as genuine as possible. "No problem any time." He says with this big ol' smile on his face. Who does he think he is. Walking over and just helping do something well more like just taking over. I was glad when he left and went over on the other side of the shop. I hope he stays over there too.
Finally my buddy, Stew, from when I first started shows up, late as always. Now I can save time by not having to let the truck up and down as much. This guy is 6'7 compared to my 5'3. It's comical watching us work together. They say we fight worse then a married couple, but I know we're just really good friends is all.
"Hey man where you been at? You could have helped me with the radiator." I tell him half laughing half serious.
"Woman I got a long ways to drive damnit. And hell you got it in there by yourself what you yelling at me for."
"Man what you talking bout you see that dude over there he just walked up and did it for me. Hell he didn't even give me a chance to ask for his help."
"Damn really. That's nice." I look up at him and gave him the evil eye and he just gives that fake scared look and I can't help but to laugh then. We just continued putting the truck back together not giving that guy another thought.
"Alright guys and Ann," the teacher says looking at me trying to get a laugh out of me and succeeds, "time to wash up and head out for lunch. Don't forget to put your tools up." We all put up our tools and head over to the sink and wash up. Of course it took some longer then others to put up their stuff like me so the others were already at the sink.
"You not gonna wash your hands."
"Yes." I say kinda stern. "I just had to put up my tools."
"Oh. Well did you get all them lined hooked up right."
"Yeah you done them remember."
"Yeah I know I was just checking." He says with a big ol' laugh. Wow either he's that cocky or he's just that much of an ass. I'm going with both. "Well I'll see y'all tomorrow."
It's not long and I'm finally able to wash my hands. I get done and dry them off and get with Herm and Stew the guys I normally go to lunch with. We head out to lunch in Herm's truck.
