Numb. That's all I feel right now. The October night breeze nips through my thin outfit. I knew I shouldn't have let my friend make me do this and now she's not even here! Or so I thought.
"HEY! Quit standing around! We have to be there in 20 minutes get your ass in here!" As she's leaning out the window looking at me like I was the one in the wrong.
"I wasn't takin-Fine fine whatever I'm coming" I glare at her and get in her beat up Honda civic. I look over at my best friend Yana, short, long dirty blonde hair, brown eyes with sunkissed skin and glasses and see she isn't in costume
"Why aren't you dressed?" I say. "Oh! I'm going to get dressed when we get there. " she declares as she puts the car in drive and it sputters down the road. "Uhhh is this piece of shit going to even make it?" I worry. "Don't say that about my car! She's been with me through a lot of stuff! " she looks at me pouting like I took a piece of favoite candy. Rolling my eyes I decide to drop it and try to get some heat working. I growl "Dont think you're off the hook missy! You had me waiting outside for 25 MINUTES YANA!! You better have a good excuse as to where we are going and why you made me dress up as a vampire! Halloween isn't even for another 2 weeks! " She looks away sheepishly. "Well I have a friend who volunteers at a haunted attraction and they've been open since September. Buuut they need more actors especially since its so close to Halloween and she asked me if I could offer any help. Hey we're almost there! " WHAT!!! I can't believe she just threw this on me now! I mean I'm low-key excited about doing this because I get to be a vampire and I love vampires or anything Halloween. Buuut I would have liked a little warning. "I hope you're not mad at me Mari" she says in a kid voice
"Ow! Let go of my cheeks you're not my grandma!!! And don't call me that when your just trying to cheer me up!" I yell. Man that girl has a grip I think my cheek might be bruised....just what I need. "HAHAHAHA!" Yana starts laughing so hard shes sounds like shes dying and crying at the same time. "Hey pay attention to the road are you trying to kill us!" I chastize her.
"Oh *inhale* My *inhale* Gosh! That was so funny!!! You're face was priceless!!!" "Whatever just keeping driving." I grumble. I sit there and look at the moon shining down illuminating everything with it's silvery glow. I see we are driving on dark back roads. "Uhhhh...are you sure you know where we are going? This looks like a road where you would lure people to kill them not have a haunted attraction on." I grimace looking around.
"Yeah definitely" She says as she checks the GPS on her phone. "Gimme that!" I say as I snatch her phone away. "I don't want you to crash on these backroads with deer jumping out and shit!"
I look at her GPS and it says we are 3 minutes away from a place called "Crows Peak"
"Ok, let me run down briefly on what this all is. Alaric will fill you in on the rest." She says. "Who's Alaric?" I ask. She starts fanning herself and blushing. Uhhhh...Wtf? she never reacts to any guy like this ever...I wonder who this guy is.
"Oh Alaric....you'll see."
Ooookay...What's with being all cryptic and weird about it. "OH! We we're here!" She gets out and starts walking ahead. I stay back and marvel at this place.
Its huge!!! The whole place in on arces of farm land. Upfront is a big sign that says "Crows Peak". One part of the building has the ticket booth and the left side is a clown house. I see people in scarecrow costumes to my right in a corn maze and they have chainsaws!!! Yikes! Remind me to not piss them off...Just kidding they are prob- my thoughts get interrupted by Yana calling out to me. "HEY AMARA COME ON! Everyone wants to meet you before they open!"
"OK I'M COMING!" I get out and close the car door making my way over to the actors lounge. Hmmm...so far ive seen 5 scarecrows and 3 clowns but no vampires. What else do they have her-Oof! I start to fall but arms quickly reach out and catch me. Warm. Safe. That's what I feel right now. I smell fresh laundry mixed with spice from whoever it is. "I-I-I'm sorry I should be whereing where I'm looking...." I finally look up at my savior and my heart starts skipping and I'm blushing. Tall, long black hair, sultry orange eyes that look like they glow, jawline that looks so sharp, dressed in a waistcoat and pants and a top hat. This man would put any model to shame. "Whereing where you're looking? How would that work." Omgggg his voice is so deep, velvety, and hypnotising its making other parts of me go warm. I would probably do anything he says right now. What! No I can't think like this ive been in a relationship with Josh for 3 years and I love him dearly why am I lusting after this guy who I just met? I shake my head to clear my thoughts and I look at this mystery guy. "Thank you for saving me but I must be on my-"Mari there you I was wondering what took you so long. I see you already met him thats good." I as Yana approachs us. "Who exactly is "him"? He smirks and stands up and bows at me
"I am Alaric Wilhelm. But here you may call me Count Alaric" I look at Yana bug eyed. Well I can see why she had that reaction earlier this man could make any women weak at the knees. Quietly I say "Uhhh nice to meet you I'm Amara" as I blush and reach my hand out to shake his. Why am I so shy all of a sudden. Come one Mara its just a handshake. He finally reaches for my hand and instead of shaking it he flips it over and places a hot searing kiss on my hand and looks at me smirking "It will be fun to be able to work with you and I hope we get to become close...very close acquaintances." I think I just forgot how to breath.
