Midnight skies

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to soar from a building so high,
To see the many twinkling eyes in the sky,
To feel the cold breeze creeping on your skin into your flowing hair,
To have no worries, no cares, or burdens to bear.
As you gently descend from the tower,
the thumping gets louder...
The memories of your loved ones flash by-only for a moment-but it feels as if it were ages,
"I wonder how their day went."
Your throat starts to tighten and your breathing becomes shallow.
Panic settles in and you wish you could go back,
But all there is an empty void of black.
You're screaming out for someone to hear but no one is near.
The pounding stops after one last thump, only to be made from the collision of your body to the concrete.
A soulless, lifeless body laying in a puddle of red,
Everyone regretted ever wishing she were dead.
She was beautiful, intelligent, and young
All she wanted was some love.
But her journey is over, life no more, for all that is left was the dress she wore best,
stained in the regrets of what she could've done next.
