Hot and cold, light and dark, good and evil; these are examples of opposites. Though many see them as completely different things, they are in fact two sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. Similarly, people have chemistry with others that are especially strong. Those strong connections are usually shared with one’s soulmate. In this world, one finds their soulmate by finding someone with the power that is opposite of their own.
Upon turning sixteen, one receives a supernatural power. This power varies from one person to another even within the same family. Some powers are elemental, such as the ability to manipulate fire, water, earth, or wind. Others are what one would expect a superhero to possess, such as flight, superhuman strength, telekinesis, etc. Discovering which superpower one has will determine what power their soulmate has. The trick is finding them.
