Christina exited her team's practice room after rehearsals late one night. It had been a long day, and she just wanted to get home. She was walking down the hall that led to her trailer when familiar music right outside the door to Adam's practice room made her stop.

Was she going crazy, or did she hear Adam picking out and singing the melody to her song Bound to You on his guitar?

She leaned close to the door, and was pleasantly surprised when she found out her suspicions were correct. Adam Levine was singing her song.

Her first instinct was to walk away, and pretend it didn't happen. But another part of her wanted to walk in there and tease him about it. After some debate, she decided to just listen for awhile. After all, what harm could it be? After that song was finished, he started playing her song Hurt, and the way he sang the song with such emotion really impressed her.

A few minutes later, what finally gave her away was when he started to play Lady Marmalade, and she laughed. Not just a quiet giggle, a real Christina Aguilera laugh.

Adam opened the door and grinned, his cheeks tinged a slight pink. "Why were you eavesdropping on me?"

"Because I heard my music, so naturally, I stopped to listen."

"Oh. How much did you hear?"

"Bound to You, then Hurt, which was amazing by the way. I had no idea you could sing like that, Adam!" she complimented.

"Anyone sounds good when they sing your songs." he replied quietly, smiling down at her.

"Aw thanks Adam."

They stood there for a few moments, both unsure what to say.

Just as Christina was about to bid him goodbye, Adam spoke up. "Uh, Christina?"

"Yeah?"

"Wanna come in here for a sec? I have this new song I've been working on, and I want you to be the first to hear it."

She followed him into the large room, and sat down on a chair as he grabbed a guitar and sat on the piano bench across from her.

He played a short intro, and then started singing. It was a great song, and Christina applauded at the end.

"Wow Adam! That was so good! What's the title?"

"Daylight. You really liked it?"

"Of course. It was really sweet."

Adam smiled at her, seeming deep in thought. Then he seemed to come out of it and cleared his throat. "Thanks. It means a lot coming from you."

Sensing an end to the conversation, Christina stood up. "Thanks for letting me hear your song Adam! It really was amazing. You're so talented, it's crazy."

He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I'm talented? You're Christina Aguilera for pete's sake!"

"I'm serious! Anyway, see you tomorrow Adam."

"Yeah, see you!" he said, waving at her as she left the room.

Christina entered her trailer, grabbing her jacket and purse from the couch. Hopefully her driver was waiting outside.

When she peeked out of the studio window into the parking lot, she was disappointed.

"Really?" she said to herself. She pulled out her phone and dialed the number.

It rang several times, then went straight to voicemail.

She sighed and hung up. "Damn it, answer your stupid phone! You had one job."

"I'll take you." Adam volunteered, from right behind her.

"Adam! You scared me so bad! Are you sure?"

He laughed. "You live like, five miles away from me, it's not a big deal. Come on, let's go."

Together they went outside. Adam opened her door for her with a grin, and then they were off.

Conversation was light on the twenty minute drive, and Christina found herself not wanting the night to end. Before her mind even caught up to her mouth, she found herself asking, "Adam, you wanna come in for a movie?"

He looked momentarily surprised, and she took that as a no. "Sorry, I was just wondering, Max is at Jordan's so I'm all alone, you don't have t-"

Adam cut her off with a smile. "Christina, of course I want to. Let's go, shall we?"

They entered her house and sat down on her couch, close, but not touching. They flipped through the channels, trying to find something, anything.

"Damn, there is like nothing on!" Adam laughed.

They ended up settling on some chic-flick, and Christina made popcorn.

A few minutes later, they were both completely engrossed in the movie, no matter how much Adam kept trying to convince her that he thinks all of these kinds of movies are crap.

Near the end of the film, Adam felt a weight on his shoulder, and he looked down to see Christina sleeping deeply, her breathing slow and even.

He knew her neck would be in so much pain the next morning if she continued to sleep in that position, so he gently guided her head to his lap and covered them both with a nearby blanket.

Yes, waking up the next morning in this position would probably be awkward, but Adam was tired, and didn't particularly want to move for many reasons that he didn't even want to think about right then.

For now, he was happy, and she was happy, which was all that really mattered, right?
