The dampness is the first thing that I notice as I open my eyes. The pain in my joints and my muscles remind me of the fact that I am chained to a wall right now. I take in my surroundings and recognize where I am immediately, I've brought enough people here to know it in my sleep.

The Dungeon.

More specifically the Castles dungeon. I used to bring prisoners here in the service to the king, and now I have been brought here myself. I let out a small chuckle recognizing the irony of the situation. As I do, an agonizing pain cuts through my chest making me gasp in pain. I look down and see the gash across my chest.

Well actually, judging by the pain that is emanating up my neck all the way to my cheek. It feels like I have a massive gash down my face.

Well, that will certainly be a nice scar to tell the ladies when I get out of here. If I get out of here.

Treason is never an easy sentence to get out of. Especially when you betray the king. At least that's what I'm being charged with. I have never betrayed anyone a day in my life. But it looks like its too late now. It's my word against his. The previous days start flooding back to me.

I woke up in my quarters like every other day, the sun has barely crested the mountains in the distance. I quickly get dressed throwing on my Kights Cape and tie my sword around my waist. Once that is done I go down to the kitchens for an early breakfast.

As I reach the doors to the kitchen I can feel the heat from the ovens, through the door. Looks like Mara is busy already. No surprise, I'm an early riser but Mara the Castle chef gets up before the blasted rooster.

As I enter the kitchen I can notice Mara pulling the bread out of the ovens. She is a small woman she barely goes up to my shoulders, with her fiery red hair pulled up so that it is out of her face. She hasn't noticed me yet as she uses a step latter to get something from one of the top shelves. Mara has been the chef from before I was born. Even though she may be old enough to be all of us knights mother, and though she may have been mistaken for a barrel more times than not due to her rather robust size, she is one of the fiercest women you can meet.

"Mara, my Beautiful what do you have for me today?"

Mara barely turns around from the Cauldron she is stirring to shout back "Nothing for you, you filthy dog, Get out of here with those honey words! Wait like everyone else!"

I put on my best Appauled face and curtly say "Woman, is that any way to speak to your favorite knight? Why Just yesterday didn't I have you clean all those pots?"

I quickly dodge a wooden spoon that was thrown my way as she continues to work on a meat pie. "clean the pot? You ate was in that Pot! That was supposed to be breakfast this morning, but you ate it!"

I walk over to Mara and throw my arm around her, a see the smile that she is suppressing as I say in my most seductive voice "You know I do it just to see the most beautiful woman in the world!"

I am greeted by a short bark of laughter as Mara shoots back "Bless me, you know how to warm these old bones don't you, you dog! Fine grab one of those bread and grab some cheese. That will hold you until the rest is done!"

I grab one of her hands and kiss it. "you are a gem my dear"

While saying this I am using my other hand to grab the meat pie that she just finished and neatly skirt past her and quickly dodge the flying utensils and curses that are being shouted at me as I leave the kitchen.

Laughing to myself I find a quiet spot outside to eat some of this meat pie. As I enjoy the warm rays of the sun I begin to head to the gate where I know my normal appointment will be waiting.
