I was nearly in sight of the gymnasium when my phone rang. I looked at my phone to see that it was my older brother. I held onto my best friend Tsubasa's arm so she wouldn't walk off and I accepted the call.
"Heyyyyyy, Jerkface. How are things going?" I smiled.
"HOW DO YOU THINK? I don't think Mom and Dad have ANY CLUE WHERE YOU ARE! We're all freaking out here. Also, you know that you don't have to remind me of my contact name? It's hurtful."
"I'm on the way to a volleyball game. And there's no need to panic, Mom and Dad already know."
"Who are you with? If you're alone, you're gonna be in a whole lot of trouble when you get home," I turned my phone and Tooru's face paled when he caught sight of Tsu.
"Why are you freaking out? It's just me," Tsubasa smiled mischievously. Tooru didn't say anything.
"We're heading to a Kitagawa Daiichi game."
"Why now? You never went when I was on the team."
"It's because you were on the team. We're going to support Kageyama-kun."
"WHAT? HIM?" I nodded and hung up before he could say anything else.

(The Next School Year)
Grabbing my gym bag, I began to jog towards the gym. Much to my dismay, I was meeting up with Kiyoko-senpai and not Tsu. Not that Kiyoko-senpai is a bad person, it's just that Tsu was in the hospital again and she wouldn't be there to co-manage with me like she had wanted to. When I reached the girl's locker room, I spotted Kiyoko-senpai, already in her tracksuit.
"Good afternoon, Oikawa-chan! It's nice to see you again."
"It's nice to see you too! Anything I should know about the team before I go in?"
"We actually don't have a full team at the moment. The players we do have are all nice, but they can be a little..." she looked as if she was looking for a good word.
"Annoying? Intense?" she nodded.
After changing, we walked in silence towards the gym. As we approached the door, I noticed Kageyama and a boy with bright orange hair wrestling just outside of the door. Kiyoko-senpai and I side-stepped them and we were just about to step into the gym when a boy with a wide smile and a shaved head slid in front of us.
"Kiyoko-san! Good to see you! You look as beautiful as always. Who's this?" the boy's eyes turned to me.
"I'm Oikawa Atsuko."
"WHAT? Your brother is.." I cringed slightly at the mention of my brother.
"My brother is exactly who you think he is. Anyways, I'm your new co-manager. It's really nice to meet you." I extended my hand and he shook it.
"I'm Tanaka Ryuunosuke! Just call me Tanaka-senpai." I made a mental note to do so as little as possible. The look in his eyes when he said it was slightly unsettling.
I stepped inside and cleared my throat. A small group of boys turned around. I suddenly regretted calling attention to myself. Tanaka grabbed my wrist and dragged me over the group.
"Hey, Guys! Guess what! We have another manager! Meet Oikawa Atsuko! I really can't believe our new manager is related to a genius setter!" Tanaka had a huge smile on his face.
"HEY! I'm a volleyball player too! I was captain of my junior high team!" I crossed my arms defensively.
"What position? By the way, I'm so sorry about Tanaka. He's always like this," a boy with white hair gave me a sympathetic smile.
"I'm a setter too. I'm better than my brother, though. What's your name?"
"Sugawara Koshi. I'm also a setter! I'm glad you've decided to co-manage the team." I reached out and we shook hands.
"Hey, Daichi, you do know that you can catch flies if you don't close your mouth?" I turned from Sugawara to see Tanaka with his arm around the shoulder of a very attractive guy.
This guy, who's name was apparently Daichi, was just a little taller than me. He had short dark brown hair, pretty dark eyes, and he looked really strong. He also had an adorable smile on his slightly pink face. I brushed my hair behind my ear and shook his hand.
"Yeah, like Tanaka said, I'm Sawamura Daichi. I'm team captain. It's really nice to meet you. Do you need to put your stuff somewhere?" he smiled and led me to the edge of a stage at the back of the gym. Instead of leaving, he stood near me and leaned on the stage.
"You know, I know your brother. I actually had no idea he had a sister when I first met him. It's really cool that you've decided to come to school here."
"I'm glad I came here to. No big brother to bother me here!" I threw my arms out wide.
"There is Tanaka though. I'm really sorry about his flirting," he leaned closer to me, "He's actually scared off a lot of the co-manager applicants." we both stared at each other for a second before breaking down laughing.
"Well, since you're the team captain, I'll need your number so I can talk to you outside of practice if I ever need to." Sawamura-kun pulled out his phone and we exchanged numbers.
Who am I kidding, I was never going to talk to him about volleyball outside of practice. He's too cute.
As soon as he left, I fell back on the stage and scrambled to Facetime Tsu. I put in my earbuds and tapped my foot impatiently on the edge of the stage. I was finally greeted with my best friend's sleepy face. She must have just woken up.
"Hey, you look comfortable," I glanced at what little I could see of her surroundings. Tsu huffed.
"You look comfortable yourself. What's up? How many times has Oikawa called to yell at you?"
"The jerk's only called once, surprisingly."
"Huh. How did practice go?" Tsu adjusted her hospital gown.
"So, I meet up with Kiyoko-senpai to head to the gym right?"
"Right..."
"I get there and Tobio's there. Then this boy named Tanaka tries to flirt with me." Tsu rolled her eyes.
"I'll have to watch out for him when I get back then," Tsu cracked her first smile in weeks. I debated on how to tell her the news.
"He actually ended up introducing me to the rest of the players and one of them's really cute. His name is Sawamura Daichi. He's team captain and I gave him my number," Tsu's eyes widened.
