Salem stood outside her grandmother's house; the house where she had visited so many times with her mom and twin brother. It almost felt like this was just any other normal visit, after a few days her mom would come and pick them up then they would go home. But sadly this wasn't a normal visit; Salem was going to live there now. Her mom and twin brother died in a fire; they couldn't determine the cause of the fire cause nothing was left standing. Everything was ash; they did however clean up all the ash and found their basement, which was her and her brother's hideout. They inspected it and told Salem and her grandmother that is was safe for Salem to go down there, and because it was a ten minute walk away she is aloud to go whenever she pleases as long as she leave a note.

Soon she broke out of her thoughts by the sound of her older brother Rowne walking out from around the corner. "Salem." he said with sadness in his throat and wrapped his arms around her. He let go and said, "I'm real  glad to see you, even though it is a really depressing reason." "Yeah." Salem said with her head down. Their grandmother yelled for Rowne to help take the new things they bought for Salem's room inside.

Salem was standing in her new room. All she had left her house was a blue suitcase that was her mother's filled with stuff from the basement and her backpack she took everywhere. She started arranging  her room the way she wanted it when Rowne showed up in the doorway.

"Well that explains the noises I heard."

"I'm not being that loud."

"I could hear you from my room in the basement, and you're in the attic."

"Well, why don't you help me then."

Rowne sighed and helped his sister move stuff around. Her bed under the window, clothes all in the drawers and closet, and everything felt perfect to her. Rowne ruffled her pink hair and smiled. Then she wanted to keep herself distracted so she didn't feel sad again. She grabbed her polaroid out of the suitcase, and she saw all the polaroids of her with Casper and their mother. She shed a tear and looked up at Rowne. "Hey, wanna have a photoshoot?", she asked as another year rolled down her cheek. "Of course Salem. I make a great model." Rowne said with a smile. They both laughed and headed outside.

"Woah Salem, I didn't notice your shoes. No wonder you're almost as tall as me. What is the story behind those bad boys?"

"M-mom got them for me. Casper found at the store. He had rainbow on the sneaker part and black on the platform part. He handed me these black sneakers with rainbow platform. We both loved them so much that mom got them for us. He had them on that day."

"Oh. Kid I'm sorry I didn't mean to-"

"I vow to wear them every day until they can't be worn anymore! Then I'll get a new pair that looked like Casper's, and I will repeat this process forever! Or I shall keep wearing these ones forever!"

"There ya go scamp, let his dreams live on!"

They had been walking through the woods behind the house until they got to Rowne and Casper's favorite spot; a little clearing with one big willow tree in the center, and a tree house as high as they could get it in the tree, and 2 swings. Salem told Rowne to pretend to read her book and she would find the right angle.
So he sat down and told her he would actually read it. He began to read and Salem began to study him.

She had never realised how much her older brother looked like a perfect mix of her and Casper. They all had similar styles, yeah but Rowne really did look like Salem and Casper mixed together. Salem looked rather androgynous and pale, and so did her brothers. Salem had  a pink pixie cut, greenish-blue eyes, and a few freckles on her face but lots on her shoulders. Casper used to have blue shaggy short hair, blueish-grey eyes, and freckles across his nose with very few on his shoulders. Then there is Rowne, purple fluffy pixie-type cut, one greenish-blue eye and one blueish-grey eye because of his heterochromia, and freckles.
