The icy snow crunched below my feet, I clasped Missy's wrist in a firm grip. I glanced back and surveyed the area behind us and caught sight of the vermillion red trail we had left behind. Missy especially, blood was still trickling down her lifeless corpse, flowing down into a deep red puddle amongst the fluffy snow. I knew I had only minutes before someone stumbled upon the original site of the killing, over a mile away, but heaving Missy's corpse along the ground was a momentus challenge; I was amazed I had made it this far. My nails were sunk deep into her wrists as to obtain a firm grip. I was glad to be hidden by the shadows of the wilting oak trees, yet the cold, ebony darkness still made me extremely anxious.
Suddenly, a low growl ripped through the frosty air from behind me. I didn't know what it could be, but it was close. Too close. Immediately, I dropped the limp corpse in a heap and turned to flee in a panic and, out of the corner of my eye, spotted the huge predator in question. Not many things could possibly compete with me for food, but I would go without feeding tonight. However, the revenge on Missy was sweet enough to keep me satisfied...for now.
