Vezar had been convinced to go to the Death Day Party by his friend Professor Artemis Moon, granted it had taken a while to convince him. Moon had suggested it might be a chance for her friend to speak to Max. Vezar had tried to deny having feelings for Max, but his friend could see through all that, through the bullshit and denying that he had been doing.  Was it possible she knew?  Anytime Vezar was near Max could she see it?  Having finally convinced him, helping him choose a color and what to wear, seemed to make her happy and he wondered just what the night might bring.  But hey.. at least he looked cute.. still he wished Moon wouldn't have taken his sunglasses.

Once they arrived at the Death Day Party, Moon left Vezar, pointing him towards Max, she slipped away, giving him his room to mingle and make his way over.  But she still would keep a watchful eye.  Vezar mingled with a few close people, finding people to speak to wasn't hard.  Most people were interested in speaking to him, however his focus always fell on Max.  After watching him for a little bit, Vezar finally found the courage to speak to Max and for a while the two spoke, occasionally catching each other's gaze, find that moment and then looking away quickly.  Soon someone stepped in and asked Max to dance and he joined him.  Vezar had only turned away for a moment or two, to speak to someone else, to break the eye contact he and Max had shared.  When he got another drink he turned around, seeing Raine dancing with Max.

His heart broke, the sound of it so loud in his ears, tears stinging at his eyes.  It pounded louder than the drums of the music that filled the hall with sound.  He could feel it in his head, in his heart.. every inch of him was on fire.  It hurt, deeper than most wounds could ever hurt.  The pain was clear in his eyes, he wanted to run, he wanted to get away, to wash the sight of them together from his eyes.  There was that doubt creeping in... Max looked good with Raine.. Max looked happy.. Vezar began to believe he wasn't good enough.  He was hurting, more than he could vocalize, but it was clear in his eyes.  The man who seemed so together in front of people, was feeling the stab of love, pain and self hatred that came with falling for someone.  He tried to slip away, before being found by another friend of his and the two conversed, the pain still clear to them as well.  He tried to fight the thoughts going through his mind.. the thoughts that filled him deeply.  He shouldn't have come.  How could he let Moon talk him into coming here tonight?

To drown his feelings in another drink on his way out of the party.  He needed to get away, knowing he could always find something to drink elsewhere.  He moved out towards the stairs, wanting to get away when he finally heard a voice.

"Vezar.."  The demon stopped in his tracks, taking a breath not wanting to turn around.  He didn't want him to see his eyes, damn Moon for having his sunglasses, he could have hidden his eyes, the redness the tears.   Vezar started to walk forward more.  "Vezar wait.."

He took a breath and turned around, his face red, tears streaming down his face.  His eyes were red, stung with the tears of pain.  He found himself face to face with Max, who seemed to mess with the hem of his jacket.  Vezar had a moment of his heart racing at the sight of the man he felt something deeply for, a feeling he hadn't felt in a very long time, until he met Max.

"You should go back to the party.."  He turned away from him, hoping Max did not see the tears or how his face was stained with the tears he had already shed.

"But.."  He looked at him.  "Are you alright?  Have you been crying?"  Max was shy, but concern filled him.  He started to reach out to place a gentle hand on Vezars shoulder.  He recoiled back though, but he was sure he could feel the warmth that had just been less than an inch from him.

"You were having a good time.. enjoy you party.. I shouldn't be here." Vezar spoke softly, but it was still loud enough for Max to hear.

"You belong here.. with me.."  He moved to stand in front of Vezar, taking the crown they had given him off his head, placing it on Vezar's head.  "I want you here.."  He swallowed and looked down at the floor.  "I need you here.."  His eyes were still cast downward, causing Vezar to tilt his head, looking at the other with a soft, tear streaked gaze.

"You deserve better than this.." Vezar tried to step back, but it was like his feet were lead.

"Vezar..."  Max looked up at him.

"You deserve to be happy Max.."  Vezar tried to move again but could not.

"I am happy.. with you."  Max stepped forward, taking Vezar's hand in his, bring it to his lips to kiss it.  Vezars heart began to race again, it was like what had started turning cold, was reignited with a flame he couldn't explain.

"Max you can't possibly mean.."  before he could get another word out, Max had thrown his arms around the demon, hugging him tightly against his chest.  Without missing a beat, Vezar shy placed a kiss against Max's lips, his eyes falling closed.  Music softly filled the spot they were in, just the two of them alone, wrapped in each other's warm embrace.
