I walked up to my parents, as I do every morning. I looked so excited, and my smile was contagious. My dad was making breakfast and my mum was taking a letter from a tawny owl that landed on our dining room table.

"Mum! Dad! Today's my 11th birthday!" I said, in my little British accent that everyone said was so cute.

"What's that?" Dad gasped. "I thought we put a brick on your head to stop you from growing! You're almost as tall as your mother." It was a fact, I had grown quite a bit in the past year, but I'm not quite my mum's size. I'm only up to her shoulder.

"Our little starwood isn't quite as big as me, but she is in fact going to Hogwarts this year!" Mum retorted, with excitement in her voice. "Your father and I met there when we were 11. You'll meet so many amazing people there, Eladie, but be prepared to make a couple of enemies, not everyone will like you, little starwood."

"Breakfast is served!" My dad is the cook in the family, my mum hasn't cooked one thing in her life. After reading the letter that the tawny owl had dropped off, my mum handed it to me.

"You'll be quite excited about this." My mum told me as I bit off a large piece of fresh toast. It was my letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Diagon Alley

"I made a list for you, ok?" Dad told me, handing me the list. I nodded wholeheartedly. "You'll meet up with Lilian Phoenix, one of our old friend's daughters. She'll be at Ollivanders, so go there first. Remember, your mum is working, but we'll meet you outside the Pet Shoppe. I love you, my little starwood." He kissed my forehead and went off to The Leaky Cauldron. I ran down the street, ending up at Ollivanders Wand Shop, just before Gringotts bank, and a girl my age with brown hair with red streaks around her face and green eyes, looked like she was waiting for someone.

"Excuse me? Are you Lilian Phoenix?" I asked her.

"Yes, I am. Are you Eladie Oak?" Lilian replied. Her hair was up in a ponytail, and she had bangs in front of her forehead, but not quite touching her glasses.

I smiled at Lilian. "Yep!" My pitch black hair swished around my shoulders, and Lilian looked shocked.

"Why are your eyes..."

"Oh." I said flatly. "They've always been like this." She continued to stare at my bright pink and blue eyes. My parents said it was just a genetic mutation. My eyes were a swirling mix of both colors, but never different from blue or pink. "We should go get our wands." I told her, and she followed me inside.

"I'll be right with you girls!" I heard Ollivander say from the other side of the shop. "Now, Miss Oak, is it?" I nodded, heart beating fast. Ollivander stared into my eyes for a couple of seconds. "You have truly unique eyes."

Ollivander showed me a couple of wands, and finally, a wand chose me.

"Larch wood, dragon heartstring, 12 1/2 inches and a brittle flexibility. Quite an unusual combination. Now, Miss Phoenix?" I watched as Lilian went through 3.. 4.. 5 wands until a one chose her.

After All Required Shopping

"Lilian?" I asked her.

"Yeah?" She replied, with a smile on her face.

"Did your parents say you could get a pet?" I smiled slyly. "Because mine said I could."

Lilian smiled back and nodded. I got a little Siamese cat who was still a kitten, with big blue eyes that almost instantly bonded to me, and Lilian got a little black kitten.

I named my kitten Luna, after the Luna moth I've always had in my dreams. We walked out of the shop to find our parents, my mum and dad, who I hugged after a long day of walking, and Lilian's parents, who waved goodbye to us once we were outside of The Leaky Cauldron. Lilian and I planned to sit in the same compartment on the Hogwarts Express, and we went home to pack for next week, which would be the most important week of my life.
