I First Saw You

I first saw you,

running so carefree.

From then on,

you’ve held me with intrigue.

I met you at the bookstore,

a place I liked to hide.

I never knew I’d meet someone special there,

you took my heart for a ride.

I tried to keep away from you,

I tried to run.

But the truth is – without you –

I would have missed a world of fun.

I didn’t want to stay here –

This isn’t where I want to be.

But I know now that without you --

Is not a place I want to see.

To think of all the things - -

I could be missing in my life.

I don’t want to think of any,

Not once - - not twice.

You are the one I love,

Ever so dear -- ever so kind.

And ever since I met you --

I can’t get you off my mind.

I never studied poetry,

and I hope that is alright,

because I probably butchered this one --

so far out of sight.

But all I really want to tell you --

is how I love you so.

And all that I really need --

is to be where you will go.
