It was a stormy Saturday night, you had just finished your shift at a local diner, the day was long and uneventful. Today was particularly difficult, the only tips you revived was some cash and a note attached to a bill that read 'here's a tip, lay off the food and hit the gym, fatty' you groaned, ripping it up and tossing it as you made your way to the bus stop. All you wanted to do was go home, take a hot shower and cry.

As you took your seat on the bus your phone buzzed, it was a text from your older sister Penelope;
'Heyy there sugar plum! I'm at your place, I have someone here I'd like you to meet!'

You sighed softly, ever since you graduated high school five years ago she's always trying to set you up with guys, never once has it ever worked out. They always seem to have a problem with how you look, your weight to be specific.

You read over the text one more time, hesitating to reply because you weren't all that interested in meeting another guy, knowing that it always ends the same every time. You took a deep breath and replied;
'Oh, ok. I'll be home in about 20 minutes..'

After a short bus ride and walk home in the rain, you enter your small apartment being greeted with a big hug by your sister, she had a big grin as she pulled away. "Y/N! I'd like you to meet a good friend of mine!" She says ecstatically as she turns, leading you to the living area of your apartment. As you pass the threshold you lay your eyes on a tall, slender figured man with shaggy light brown, hair, he appeared to be a few years older than you, he was wearing blue jeans and sweater vest with a tie. He stood their with his hands in his front pockets, rocking back and forth, from heels to toe, he was looking down at his feet, chewing on his bottom lip as if he was nervous.

As you two entered the room, he lifted his head, his eyes meeting yours, he shot a soft smile and waved shyly as you and Penelope approach him. "Y/N, this is Dr Spencer Reid we work together at the BAU, Spencer this is Y/N, my little sis!" She said smiling widely, you smile softly, reaching your hand out for a hand shake and he shys away giving you another shy wave. "I, uh, don't do hand shakes. Germs.." He says, his voice soft "N-No offense, I'm not saying you have germs, everyone has germs.. I-I just.." He trails off, looking back down at his feet as he rubs the back of his never nervously. "Hey, no, I understand. Uh, you never know where someone's hands have been." You say softly with a slight chuckle, smiling softly at how adorable his shyness is. You nod at your sister, giving her a look of approval and her smile gets even wider. "Well, I guess I'll get going! I'll let you two chat and get to know each other! Love you!" She says, eagerly making her way to the door, leaving you two alone.

You sigh softly, looking at him and he's looking at you as you both share a moment of silence. "I, uh, do you mind if I change out of my work clothes?" You gesture at your waitress dress that is slightly soaked from the rain.

"No not at all, I'll just, sit here" He says softly with a slight smile as he sits down on the couch. You nod, leaving to your room and changing into something more comfortable, letting your curls loose from the clip in your hair, you sweep it to one side, letting it hang over your shoulder.

You look in the mirror, sighing as you run your hands over your curves, pinching your stomach. You take a deep breath before making your way back to the living room.

As you walk back into the living room Spencer is sitting patently, nervously shaking his leg, his head down as he rubs his palms with his thumbs, as if he's trying to calm himself. He doesn't notice you until you sit beside him on the couch. "Sooooooo.." You drag on nervously with your hands on your knees, patting them with your hands. "How did Pen manage to convince you to come here? To meet me?" You asked curiously, looking him in the eyes as he looks up from his hands.
He furrows his brows in confusion "she didn't convince me.. I, uh, I wanted to meet you, in person." He replied, slight concerned that you'd think he'd need be convinced to meet up with you.

You looked at him with a confused look "wait.. What do you mean you wanted to meet me in person? I don't get it.." You said in a confused tone after a short pause "a-am of missing something here?" You pleaded with a nervous chuckle as you start to play with your hands.

He rubs the back of his neck and smiles softly at you, as if he was amused by your confusion "Penelope talks about you all the time, I mean really talks about you, she's pretty proud of you." He said with a smile "she has a photo of you and her in her office.." He took a short pause, taking a deep breath as he looks back at his hand "and you may have caught my eye. I asked who you were and when she said you're her sister I asked if I could meet you.." He said softly as his cheeks turned a soft pink.

You looked at him a bit shocked, not knowing what to say as he rose his head once more, your eyes meeting each other "why?.." You questioned, it being the only word able to escape your mouth.

"Because I think you're stunning and hearing from how Penelope has talked about you I figured that I'd really like to get to know you." He admits and you become silent not know what to say. You look down at your hands, as you fiddle your thumbs.

Spencer notes your silence as disbelief and insecurity. He sighs, reaching over, taking your hand in his, not caring about 'germs'. Your head shot up from your lap, your eyes making contact with his once again "hey" He whispers "I really mean that. You are stunn-" Before he can finish you interrupt "but I'm fat, I have a gut, my thigh touch.." You say abruptly, quickly wiping a tear as it was about to fall from your eye.

He frowns at you, squeezing your hand as he slides a bit closer to you, using his other hand to lift your chin back up so you can have eye contact "the size of your body doesn't determine your worth or beauty." He said, his voice soft and comforting "you are beautiful y/n" He assures you, wiping away a tear as it falls from the corner of your eye. You sigh, nuzzling your face again his large hand, squeezing the one that held yours.
You give him a soft smile "thank you" You say softly, swiftly wrapped your arms around his torso and hugging him tight, he stiffened up but quickly relaxed rubbing your back softly with one hand and playing with your curls with the other.

"Size doesn't matter" He whispered before placing a gentle kiss on the top of your head.
                            ...........
For the rest of that night, after Spencer had comforted you, you all spent the night talking and getting to know each other. You both realized you had a lot in common such as the love for reading, Halloween, Doctor Who and knowing random facts about anything and everything.
You had told him you also loved writing, painting and that you were studying psychology, sociology, philosophy and criminology, you told him you were months away from graduating and getting your BAs and were actually going to apply for an internship at the BAU.

You talked about your studies, his work, sharing stories about each others families, laughing over jokes you had told each other. It was so nice and you felt incredibly comfortable, quickly forgetting the insecurity you had when you first sat down with him.

He was both shocked and pleased with how much you had in common, you had shown him your writing and artwork, he loved reading the things you wrote and was very impressed with your paintings. It made you feel great, more than great, talking to him for hours and him being so sweet and encouraging.

By the time you realized the time he had pointed out that it was three in the morning and you two have been talking for six straight hours. You felt a bit sad that this timeless exchange had to come to an end and he needed to go home and get some sleep for work. As you said your goodbyes he gave you a small kiss on the forehead before leaving you alone in your small apartment. That night you laid in bed, smiling like crazy as the night replayed in your head as you fell asleep.
                                ...........
