Greg heffley goes to vietnam

a loss

The year is 1955, a new war had broken out over seas. A young l, enthusiastic Greg heffley had recently gotten drafted to fight. Though he was eager, he had to leave his wife Rowley, and their soon to be baby boy.

Rowley: please be safe out there baby, I can't raise little Manny all by myself, we need you.

Greg: of course I'll be safe honey buns, as safe as I can be, I love you both very much and I can hopefully get back before you go into labor.

Rowley and Greg in unison: hopefully.

Greg leaves in a hurry to catch the bus, but not before giving Rowley and her stomach a kiss and saying his teary eyed goodbyes. Greg has soon to realize the hellish nightmare that is war.

Greg finds himself in firebase 6. He thought he would be an outcast and not know anyone, but to his surprise, fregley was there too.

Greg: Fregley!! I haven't seen you in ages pal!

Fregley: Greg? Greg motherfucking heffley!!?! It's been forever!! How are ya?

Greg: I'm doing alright, I gotta wife now, and a baby on the way.

(Fregley has severe ADHD and so forgets what the fuck the conversation is about and moves into something random)

Fregley: hey Greg, wanna see my bit this grenade?

Greg:NO YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!

Fregley proceeds to bite into the grenade blowing his entire fucking head and Greg's left arm clean off

After only 3 months serving in the war, and not even seeing an enemy, Greg was discharged.

After arriving back home he got a phone call from the hospital. It was about Rowley. Greg rushed to the hospital speeding in his car knocking an entire school bus of mentally disabled blind children into a nuclear power plant. But that's not important to the story. Greg arrives at the hospital. He bolts inside and asks the lady at the front desk where the room is, she proceeds to tell him, and Greg finds rowleys doctor. He talks to the doctor to find out what's wrong, and it turns out that all the vodka and carpet tacs Rowley had been eating wasn't ok for the baby, and she had a miscarriage. Greg goes into the room, confronted with a heartbroken rowley laying in the bed crying intensely. Greg couldn't do anything to help her, he was speechless, all he could manage to do was to join her. This truly was, a loss.
