Sidney Marie Labeau was 11 years old. She was curious about everything and loved to investigate things. Today was nothing new. She and her friend Lyla Riley where walking around the school yard during recess, talking about stuff they found in their backyards. The day before, they decided that their mission was to search their backyards for things.
"I didn't find anything except for bugs and stuff" Sidney told her friend.
"Well, I found a book. It didn't have a title or anything though," Lyla stated, "But I thought maybe if you came over we can look through it together."
"Great idea! I'll ask my parents!" Sidney responded.
Later that day
Sidney and Lyla were in Lyla's backyard.
"Where exactly was the book Lyla?" Sidney asked, looking around.
"In here." Lyla responded, unlocking the small green shed that sat in her backyard. After she unlocked it, Lyla stepped in, Sidney close behind.
Lyla rummaged through a box and pulled out a book. The book was old-looking. The cover was brown and covered with odd looking stains and the pages were yellow.
Lyla handed the book to Sidney and she opened it. She looked at the words in the book.
"ʍɥoɯǝʌǝɹ sɥɐll ɹǝɐd ʇɥıs booʞ ʍıll bǝ dɹıʌǝn ʇo ınsɐnıʇʎ bʎ ɐn oʇɥǝɹ-ʍoɹldʎ ǝnʇıʇʎ ʇɥɐʇ ʍıll ʇǝll ʎon ɐnd ɯɐʞǝ ʎon do sınısʇǝɹ ʇɥınƃs. ɐs soon ɐs ʎon ɹǝɐd ʇɥǝ lɐsʇ lǝʇʇǝɹ on ʇɥıs dɐƃǝ, ıʇ ʍıll bǝ ʇo lɐʇǝ. ƃood lnɔʞ." The book read.
"What does it say Sid?" Lyla asked.
"I can't tell. It looks all upside down and backwards." Sidney replied, confused.
Lyla sighed, "Well that was useless."
"Yeah." They put the book back and left the shed, locking it behind them, then Sidney went home and went to bed.
The next day
It was Saturday so Sidney was at home. Her parents had went to the grocery store and she was home with her older brother, Nathan, who was 13.
She looked over to him and a voice in her head said "He's so annoying, right? Always taking up space on the couch, getting in your way, you should get him back."
You're right. He is really annoying. How should I get him back? She responded.
"You see his bottle of juice over there? Put some pills in it. Make sure the you use the tasteless ones." The voice said mishcheaviosly.
Sidney walked over to her brother's bottle and walked upstairs to the bathroom. She smiled as she poured about 10 pills into it. She walked back downstairs, placed the bottle back in it's original spot and waited.
About 5 minutes later, Nathan grabbed his bottle and took a sip immediately started choking.
"Don't help him" the voice said "He'll be fine."
Okay, If you say so. Sidney responded, slightly unsure if the voice was telling the truth.
Nathan stopped moving.
"Nate? Nathan, are you okay?"
He didn't respond.
"Oh. I guess he isn't fine." The voice laughs. "Seems like you fell for it. He's dead now."
Sidney stayed silent.
"How do you feel about that? You're big brother is dead."
I...I feel great!
"Oh?"
He deserved it. He had it coming.
"He did, didn't he?" The voice chuckled. "Your parents are gonna be home soon. Grab a knife and wait near the door. Stab them when the come in." The voice said.
Okay!
Sindey skipped into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, skipped to the door and waited.
10 minutes later, the lock of the door clicked and it opened.
"Sidney, we're home!" Her father said as he and her mother walked in.
"Sidney? Where are you?" Her mother called out.
Sidney slowly walked up to her mother and stabbed her in the back of the neck and she fell over.
"Sidney! Why would you do that?! Are you crazy?!" Her father said as he ran over to his wife, trying to stop the bleeding.
"Yeah Dad. I am crazy." She her mouth twisted into a sinister smile as she stabbed her father in the neck and he fell over.
Sidney watched as both of her parents wriggled in pain on the floor, the sinister smile still plastered on her face.
As soon as they stopped moving, the voice said "You should get revenge on Lyla. She did let you down, didn't she?"
You're right! She has to pay for being a bad friend!
Sidney then ran up to her room and put on her black hoodie, hiding her hands in it as she walked out of the front door.
Sidney walked over to Lyla's house. When she got to the door, she knocked on it and Lyla's mother, Mrs. Riley, answered.
"Hello Sidney! C'mon in! Lyla was just about to go across the street to get you!" She said with a smile.
Sidney walked into the house, and behind Mrs. Riley as she closed and locked the door.
Before she could turn around, Sidney jumped on her and stabbed her in the back several times.
Mrs. Riley screamed, which caught the attention of her husband and her daughter.
They both ran to the door to see Sidney covered in blood and Mrs. Riley dead on the floor.
Mr. Riley and Lyla were frozen in fear. "S-Sidney...? Wh-why did you do that?" Mr. Riley asked nervously.
Sindey laughed innocently. "Lyla let me down, so now, I'll get my revenge."
As soon as she finished her sentence, she jumped onto Mr. Riley, catching him off guard, giving her the ability stabbing him in the heart twice.
Lyla tried to run to the phone, but Sidney jumped on top off her before she could.
"Sid! Please! I didn't mean to let you down! I'm sorry!" Lyla cried out.
"It's to late now Lyla. It already happened. Now, it's time for me to get you back."
Sidney said as she grabbed the knife with both hands, raising her arms.
"Sidney, please. I'm your best friend." Lyla said, crying.
"Goodbye Lyla."
Sidney plunged the knife directly into the back of her head.
Sidney then stood up, pulled the knife out of Lyla's head, and walked out of the door, carefully hiding the front of her body that was covered in blood.
When she got into her house, she went upstairs to pack her bags when her cat walked into her room.
She stared at it for a while. Then, she got up, grabbed her knife, walked up to her cat and...
