there was the place you rested upon time from time after you bit your fingernails and spit out soft stares
the place you knew as your desk
the place I knew as where to look for you
every giggle and time-stopping stare
I remember like the back of my hand
I teased you with my eyes, but it's alright you couldn't much care
because you knew I didn't have enough courage to stand
up to that whiteboard and listen to what our teacher had us do
"hey this is the part where they kiss"
but I did
And hey, I saw you there, paper in hand, love already applied your lips if it was the quickest cigarette you could find
total bliss of midnight calls and laughter at a time I thought laughter was scarce to find
no words swallowed
no "silly" misplaced
