I feel the click as my body boots up, and am woken by my fingers and toes moving on their own, I sigh and open my eyes, I wait to gain control over my body and when I do I reach to the base of my neck and unplug the power cord. I stand and as usual have to take a few steps before my balance kicks in.
"Shade? Have you booted up yet?" I hear Father yell from downstairs
"Yes father, Can you see if you can get my balance matrix to kick in sooner when I stand up?" I say back.
"I thought I'd done that already?" He says walking through the door.
"If you have, it's undone itself. My balance still takes a while to kick in."
"Okay. Sit down, I also have your emotion relay to put back in, I think I've fixed it this time" He explains and points to a chair in the middle of my room, well, the workshop. I hear a click and know that my access panel is open, it's in the middle of my back.
"Hugh, the fastenings loose, need to fix that, could replace the casing. Hmmmm, or i could use a zip ties" Father mumbles
"Please no zip ties" I groan
"Emotion relay's working" He laughs I hear the rattle of tools behind me.
"Father I have school in" I look to my clock quickly "20 min, will this be done so I can oil my hands and dress?"
"No," He sighs "One day with a zip tie? I was going to upgrade your optics this afternoon, so come home straight from school, also remember to back up your memory tonight."
"Yes one day with a zip tie, and I backed up my memory last night, files are under the date" I laugh and he closes my access panel.
"Ok, done, go get dressed, remember to take some oil to school just in case your hands get wet, The covers should be here today or tomorrow" He explains and I nod. He then leaves the room, I walk over to my chest of clothes and open it pulling out a jeans a singlet and a sweater, I smile at my outfit in the mirror and connect to the wireless internet to make sure my bus routes are on time, I also check the weather to see if I have pack gloves. Rain later today,
"Just in case" I say to myself and put my gloves in my bag along with a rubix cube and my external hard drive, I've never actually run out of memory in a day, but it's nice to have in just in case. I pick up my bag and sing it over my shoulders only to hear a click as my access panel closes fully.
"Father didn't lock it again" I laugh to myself I then walk to the door and before walking out dunk my hands in the oil tub, I move all the joints to make sure they oil properly then bring my hands out and wipe off the excess. I smile as I move my fingers smothley and hearing no clicking. I walk out of my room and see my little brother eating.
"Morning sis" he grins
"Morning little flesh bag" I smile he pouts then beams happily
"Looking forward to school?" He asks
"Nope, Father changed my eyes so now I get to work my processors to the max and learn everyone's names" I sigh
"Can't you just take a photo and put their name on it?" He asks smirking
"No you useless bacteria, I can't take photos with my eyes" I laughs
"Ohh, new one, I like it. Bunch of cogs" He smiles and I ruffle his hair.
"Ew Shade, oil!" He groans and I wince
"Sorry Lachlan" Turning to the door I run my hand over my own smooth head. Sighing I move my hand down and walk towards the front door.
