The Frosted Woods

In the crisp, winter season a wealthy girl that lived on the hill asked the boy next door to go to a lake with her the next day. Her name was Mary and his was David. She didn't want friends or even company, she simply wanted to show off her wealth. He gladly accepted her offer. The next day came and they both wore their best white outfits. The pair walked up through the woods to the glistening surface of the lake. It's beauty seemed to call out to them. Mary stepped cautiously onto the ice "It's solid." she smiled and waved for David to come with her so he followed. 

He began to chuckle "It may be solid but it's still slippery, be careful." David warned. Mary rolled her eyes and continued further from the shore. "Do keep up boy." she muttered in a venomous tone. He began to wonder why she would treat him in such a way, but figured he'd ignore it.
