"Your mother intrusted your safety to me" he said firmly and I gasped

"Oh god I need to call mom! I will call her while I walk, if anything happens she will be able to contact you so it is fine" I said quickly, hoping to offer a reasonable compromise before he could argue.

"I will see you tomorrow Toshinori, I want to go see mom and dad" I said feeling a tightening in my chest thinking of father and he nodded

"I would love to join" he said and I smiled giving him a tight squeeze before walking swiftly to the door.
I didn't change out of pajamas, I didn't even consider it. I only put on shoes and grabbed my phone as I ran out of the door. I dialed the phone as I ran, albeit a bit wobbly, down the stairs

"Hello?" An all too familiar voice answered sleepily and I teared up at her voice. I reached the end of the stairs and stopped, clasping a hand over my mouth as my breath hitched

"Yui?" She asked, slightly more alert and I hummed weakly

"Mom I remember" I whispered, my voice barely audible as it broke

"You do?" She asked excitedly and I grunted in affirmation

"I knew you would sweetie, it wouldn't be like you to stay knocked down for too long" She said with a weak chuckle but I could tell that she was so utterly relieved by the news

"Hows dad? I-I remember what happened now I-I.." My voice faltered as I clutched tightly to the railing of the stairs

"There's no change in his condition, he is still showing no signs of waking up" She said sadly and I gripped the rail tighter, feeling the metal bend slightly under my grasp

"I'm sorry mo-"

"Don't finish that, don't even think about apologizing" She said sharply

"This is, in no way your fault, he was doing his duty as a hero and you know that as well as I do. Your father is not a weak man, he will recover I know he will. He just needs to rest up a bit more" She said her voice growing softer once more and I hummed as I started to walk once more

"I will be coming out tomorrow to see you two..w-will you let him know?" I asked quietly and I could hear a small smile in her voice as she responded

"Of course sweetie, I know he will be happy to hear you regained your memories as well" She said and I smiled, my lip quivering slightly as I wove my way through the familiar streets

"Thank you mom" I said softly

"What are you doing now? Did you call Shota?" She asked

"No.. I am going to talk to him in person, I-I need to explain myself" I whispered and I heard her hum

"He told me about the phone call before the fight," she said and I felt a tear slid down my cheek before I could stop it. I couldn't think of a way to respond to her so I just stayed silent, awaiting the motherly advice I needed more than ever

"I can't say that hiding the truth is good and a part of me understands why you did what you did but you hurt yourself and him in the process. Shota is a good man and I think you two are meant for one another. He hasn't given up hope that you would recover and he stayed by your side, so I believe he will understand even if it is hard. You need to treat that man well Yui, he loves you wholeheartedly" She said softly and my breath caught again as I tried to stem the tears begging to spill past my eyes

"I know he does mom.. I love him so much and I-I guess I'm just scared he wont forgive me for hurting him" I said, my voice growing uneven again as I drew closer and closer to Shotas house... our house.
