(A/N: Hello, so a little note before you start reading. Drake was supposed to be called Drakey by Layla, but since you all absolutely hate it, I changed it all back to Drake, now, if there's no more issues, you may continue reading.)

Layla's POV:

"So how do you like your room? We can go to the store and change it up if you want." My cousin, Drake, said. I looked at him and gave him a smile.

"Drake, this is perfect. Thank you again for accepting me with open arms." I said and wrapped my arms around his torso.

"Of course, you're my little cousin." He said and wrapped his arms around my shoulders considering he was way taller than me. He was about 6'1 while I was like 5'3.

"Drake, you're only a year older than me." I said and pulled away from his arms.

"You're still my little cousin, look how tiny you are." He said and pinched my cheeks. I giggled and slapped his hands away from my face.

"Whatever" I mumbled

"We can go to do whatever you want to do tomorrow. What do you suggest?" He asked

"Can we go shopping?" I squealed, he chuckled but nodded his head.

"Sure we can, now go get some rest. You had a long drive." He said, I nodded my head and pushed him out.

I looked around my room and smiled. I can't believe I'm finally going to a real school on Monday. Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself, how rude of me? Hi! I'm Layla Emerson and I am about 16 years old, turning 17 in about 2 months. My parents have homeschooled me my whole life because they were a bit too protective over me as I'm their only child. It took a lot of convincing for them to send me to a real school, but here I am.

My parents decided to send me to live with my cousin, Drake. I used to live in Florida with my parents and now I'm all the way here in California. I moved here because like I said I want to go to a real school, my parents didn't want me to go to school alone and since Drake is still in high school, they sent me here. I'm perfectly fine with living with Drake, he's probably the best cousin is the world, well actually he's my only cousin besides Camila, but she lives in the Philippines. Camila and I are pretty close, but Drake and I are closer.

Now that you know some things about me, let's go back to the present.

I walked towards my bathroom and went to go freshen up. I took a quick shower and got dressed in my pjs, which were pretty cute if you ask me.

After getting dressed, I noticed that it was getting dark and it was time for dinner. I walked out of my room and skipped down the stairs and into the kitchen where Drake was trying to start the stove.

"How do you do this again?" He asked me once he noticed me entering the kitchen. I giggled and walked over to help him.

"It's like this, Drake." I said and turned it on.

"How do you even eat if you can't cook?" I asked him and sat on the counter.

"Well I usually eat take out, or I just eat out." He said and scratched the back of his head.

"Now that I'm here, you will eat properly. Fast food isn't healthy, Drake." I said and crossed my arms over my chest and glared at him.

"Yes Layla." He said, I smiled and walked over to the refrigerator. I looked if he had the ingredients that I needed, luckily he did. At least he does grocery shopping. I decided to make sinigang, it's our favourite Filipino dish. I smiled and started working on it.

(A/N: Sinigang is a Filipino dish, it's like a stew with pork and vegetables and it's sour. It's super good. It's my all time favourite.)

*Some Time Later*

"Oh my god, this is so good." Drake said, I giggled and took a sip of my soup.

"Thanks Drake." I smiled

"You're a really great cook, you really got Aunt Alisha's (Layla's mom) cooking skills." He said

"I had nothing better to do at home anyways, so I might as well learn a few things." I said

"So are you excited for school?" He asked

"I really am, what's it like?" I asked

"It's really great, a lot of fun definitely." He said, I smiled and thought about all the friends that I would make. I just hope that the people in school would like me.

"Do you think the people there would like me?" I asked him my smile dropping.

"They'll love you, Lay. You're as cute as a button, and besides I'll introduce you to my friends, they will absolutely love you." He smiled

"You think so?" I asked and he just nodded his head.

"I know so." He said

"Thanks for the encouragement, Drake." I said and kissed his cheek.

"You're welcome, Lay. Love you." He said and kissed my cheek as well.

Don't I just have the best cousin ever?
