Not good enough

Part 1

 Their lips slowly get closer until they finally kiss each other. Sarah pulls Ben closer to her, as if she is in need of something to hold on to. Ben suddenly ends the kiss and looks at her with his forehead frown.

“You know that this is a very bad idea Sarah…” he whispers and softly strokes over her lips with his thumb. She looks aside.

“I know…”

Ben sighs. “You´re not feeling too well about this movie thing, huh?” he asks with a worried look. Sarah steps back and strokes her long hair back.

“I don´t know… I always wanted it, but now that it’s really happening…” She looks down, putting her hands into her pockets.

“But you were feeling better hun…” Ben picks on her shirt then gently slides under it to hook his finger into her jeans, pulling her close.

 He gives her a little smile. “Don’t worry Ben. I won´t do anything stupid. Something that will fuck up this chance. I´ll be strong.”

“Hey…I am more worried about YOU Sarah, and you should know that. I don´t want to see you depressed again. Or doing some other shit. You know I love you and I´ll always be by your side.”

Sarah bites her lip. “I´ll be strong.” she repeats. “Just…. just don´t leave me alone tonight” she whispers and looks at him anxiously. Ben kisses her forehead and hugs her. “I won´t baby. I won´t.”

She rests her head on his chest, and feeling him, smelling his scent makes her feel better. “Come on, let´s go to bed” he tells her as he takes her hand.

“Ben have you seen…” John rushes into Bens room the next morning and stops, as he catches sight of Ben and Sarah sleeping close to each other. Ben looks up and slowly gets out of bed to make sure he won´t wake up Sarah. He drags John out of the room and closes the door behind them.

“What´s the use of yelling around the house that early, tell me?” he asks angrily and rubs his eyes.

“Dude… are you and Sarah…” John starts.

“Man, I am fully clothed, so what do you think has happened?” Ben gazes at him.

He inhales and tells John that Sarah wasn´t feeling well. “Damn, I hope she´ll be alright until work starts, we don´t need any drama now…” John states and is about to leave, but Ben holds him back.

“What? Man, we should be here for her whenever she needs us! Okay? Without her we wouldn´t even have gotten this far, don´t forget that!” he bawls at John.

John sighs. “I know, I know man… I am just completely nervous because of that all… I am sorry…”

“Sorry, for what?” Sarah comes out of the bedroom.

“Nothing” Ben states, still gazing at John. “Come on guys, I need a coffee. And then we should start to focus on work.”

They gather in the kitchen for a small breakfast. Tom enters the room, sleep in his eyes, but a big grin on his face. He takes a seat and grabs a bagel. “Damn, that chick was the bomb!”

Ben grins. “You took the blonde one home?”

“Yeah..” Tom leans back in his chair. “That girl did things to me, you wouldn´t believe it…”

“We don´t even wanna know…” Sarah interrupts him with a grin and takes a seat next to Ben, who places his hand on her thigh. Seeing this, Tom raises his eyebrow.

“So, what did I miss last night?” he asks and reaches for the coffeepot. Ben and Sarah look at each other, kind of embarrassed. Will their story ever have an ending? A happy one?

“Nothing…” John breaks the silence, looking at Ben. “We left an hour before you and we just had one beer here.”

“Alright… well, what´s the plan, when are we meeting to talk about the movie? I still can´t believe it…” Tom says.

“Boy, shouldn´t you at least offer your girl a cup of coffee?” Sarah asks him.

“Oh no, I am sure she´s fine. She told me she had to leave anyway.”

Sarah shakes her head. Tom was always like that. He just lives his life to the fullest. He enjoys it. He doesn´t give a shit. Sarah is jealous because of that. Her life has never been easy, nor has she ever done anything without thousands of thoughts in her mind. Most of them caused by anger or fear.

“I´m gonna call the studio.” Ben gets up. “I am gonna set up a date for a meeting, so we can talk about all the details.”
